@SimonCalder Or alternatively - as a combination of government and rail firms seemingly can't be bothered to ensure all travel tickets are checked and recorded as used, and they switch to an "assume bad faith" policy.
Facebook/Meta has now become another org that thinks it can get away with charging us a fee for our legal right to decline analysis of content & targeted adverts. For small local news sites I was willing to look the other way - but Meta is hardly small or struggling. Not on.
@seatsixtyone If these sets are only 200m rather than the near-400m length of the 373/374s, doesn't that mean they could be serviced somewhere other than Temple Mills? Wonder if ES are planning for the likelihood of being forced to share TM and build a small additional depot elsewhere?
@seatsixtyone With this resurgence in sleeper trains, and an ambition to get the Channel Tunnel used more, do you think anyone is considering whether Nightstar (or equivalent) should be developed after all? I'd expect demand for London-Geneva/Frankfurt/Marseille & maybe Manchester/Leeds-Paris
@RochesterAsa@RM_Transit Why would it be that difficult? Köln, Rouen, Lille & Marseille all manage easily enough, and those are just the ones I'm personally familiar with...
@RoyalMailHelp I was not in to receive my parcel yesterday. I specified online that redelivery should be to my local post office. Why has that been ignored and the parcel instead launched over my side gate?
@InfoPropagation@RM_Transit DB (DeutcheBahn) are one of the largest legacy national rail companies in Europe, who have vast experience in frequent cross-city "S-Bahn" passenger train networks. They also run regional and intercity trains in multiple countries will beyond Germany's borders.
@edfenergy today is Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. I'm guessing the text I just received about Sunday Saver should not have said "*Tomorrow*, you have [redacted] hours of free electricity to use..." or possibly should have been sent on Saturday 15th?
As many as 1,000 people are thought to have died in French Indian Ocean islands of Mayotte after #CycloneChido. 20,000 are thought homeless in Mozambique; @Tearfund plan to help rebuild a storm-damaged church that had wanted to offer shelter - listen🔊: https://t.co/BzKSSnidX4
@goodupanddown@seatsixtyone Eurostar also have to cover much of the cost full border control facilities and staff when leaving the UK (or departing France/Belgium for the UK). The other journeys are within the EU's Schengen (invisible border) Area where border control formalities are not typically required.
@goodupanddown@seatsixtyone Eurostar pay the Channel Tunnel and UK High Speed line a high fee to use them. There's not (yet) a competitor offering passenger trains through the tunnel. Eurostar Plus (and some other UK 1st-class fares) get you a meal; most European 1st class fares simply mean a nicer seat.
@sullieship@RyanDrewery@LouHaigh@SadiqKhan Two bigproblems with that:
1. not everyone is able to look up departure boards on a mobile device before going to the station.
2. It relies on the platform for any given train departure being known and listed well before it is due to leave. At Euston this almost never happens.
@RyanDrewery@LouHaigh@SadiqKhan But if you look at the data, it seems to suggest that switching to several smaller departure display areas actually reduced crowding. It's not a long-term solution, and I won't miss the massive advert display, but it appears better for now... https://t.co/pB19a9KuAI
@Cameron64408384@RM_Transit Not true. @MCRMetrolink has had Contactless for at least 3 years, I'm pretty sure all the Go-Ahead bus companies offer it, as do most private and franchised bus operators in Greater Manchester.
@AvantiWestCoast on-board 1A11 from SOT to EUS. None of the prebooked seat reservations are showing on the screens. Thankfully people sat in our booked seats happy to move, but might be worth restarting the reservations system before final station call if possible?
@LeShuttle_Help what's caused today's delay? Arrived around 14:30, well before booked (16:18) crossing. Had hoped we might get allocated space on an earlier departure. I now see our allocated train won't be until after 18:30. It would help lessen frustration if we were told why!
@LeShuttle_Help your status page is lying. It just took 40 minutes to get from joining queue for French border control to being through UK Border. So many people are going to miss their booked crossings - can you at least be honest about this?
@potteriesbuses Apology is nice and appreciated, but you have not answered my question. Why is everything so delayed?
I could have walked the 4 miles between origin & destination faster than taking the bus today. Tuesday's experience tells me that 15-minute delays are actually not unusual.
@potteriesbuses why are all your routes seemingly running 15-20 minutes late? 3 from Burslem at 16:07 after 16:20 (leapfrogged by 3a supposedly 10 mins behind). 6/6a from Hanley 15 late. Had similar experience on Tuesday morning. First time using your service, not great..
