Amazing to meet our patron, Zara Tindall, and David Howden at the Saudi Cup in Riyadh. Championing aftercare at the highest levels of the sport. @RoRlatest
@WarintheFuture Relationships, whether personal, organisational or international are always built on Trust. The Trust Equation often helps to understand whatβs happening. How do international administrations currently score?

@1GarethWynJones There are half the number of cattle in USA today than there were in 1800, when likely 60m bison. Cattle emit methane but always have done. Perhaps the focus should be elsewhere?
@robbo1107@RoRlatest@AintreeRaces@BERacingLtd Good to see you Andy, and of course Definitly Red too. Glad you enjoyed it. A big thank you for travelling to Aintree. We are very privileged to have Eric Smiley coaching. It was a great demonstration of how much time and effort goes into retraining former racehorses.
@TheJockeyClub Wonderful memories of their glory days on the track, and now many more memories being made as they enjoy their second careers competing in new equestrian activities.
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA It strikes me that the presence of Wagner in Belarus will, if nothing else, now provide Lukashenko with significant additional support to protect himself from a coup
As @BHAHorseracing charity, we've made a significant difference to the lives of thousands of former racehorses. We continue this work through our competitions & educational events, which spur demand for former racehorses & then there is the vital work in protecting them. #RoRπ
@BritishVets@SeanWensley@justineshotton Do we need to agree principles on ethics for all animals however used in society, before a debate on animals used in sport?
What ethics relating to 1 mill captive rabbits living in misery every day for our pleasure?
Ethics of 4% broilers injured or DOA before slaughtered?
@DrEuanBennet However animals are used in society, we need to constantly question, review and look to improve their welfare, justify their use and social licence to operate.
The debates can be uncomfortable when there are diverse views, but they must be led by racing industry in this instance
@DrEuanBennet Riding horses is an inherently higher risk activity, jumping obstacles and running fast. There are serious injuries and fatalities every day across all horse sports, including to riders.
Competition against your peers is an important part of society activity 2/
@DrEuanBennet If we really want to address the most important welfare concerns relating to horses then this research study carried out by Edinburgh University identifies some of the key issues to consider

@DrEuanBennet I do not condone the death of any animal. It is however important to look at the welfare of animals across their whole lives before picking an easy target because itβs in the public eye.
@DrEuanBennet There are many companion animals kept in abject misery for years eg 3 million rabbits kept in isolation as pets in the uk or many elderly dogs and cats living in chronic pain
