@HCEngDept We need a traffic signal on Kuykendahl near 22821
Sheriff deputies are manually stopping traffic on a 5-lane road for a school this isn’t safe or sustainable.
Area growth has changed everything. Time for a signal or two.

Since KHOU 11 Investigates first shined a light on the high-mast lighting problem in November, there is renewed coordination between the city and state. https://t.co/3NKYwfwc44
@gratifihouston Also interesting the Planning and Commission board member Sikes also works at the same firm as the Montrose TiRZ 27 Chair. I also never knew people who live in high rises only drive in and out?!!!?
@houmayor@houstonpolice When you’re out at night, maybe check the nonexistent freeway hi-mast lighting especially at 610 & 45 and the dangerous stretch of I-45 north of Main St.
One of Houston’s most hazardous corridors left in the dark. That’s not acceptable.

@walkrollhouston Yes, we need to add up all the costs, including the firm paid about $150K a year, so we have the facts and correct totals.
The same people complained every month about $12M in spending, yet now, with another $6M+ on the table, they have nothing to say.
The headline says it all. Whitmire's TIRZ board erased key safety improvements.
Another project radically changed to make it worse. At a cost of $223,000.

@houmayor 🚶♂️🚦 Houston just turned 189 yet pedestrian safety is still stuck in the past. Fatalities remain stubbornly high, and too many streets are built for speed, not people.
We need a forward-thinking strategy.
Do better, Houston. ✊

@houmayor So in 189 years, the big shift has been:
•From no real system (just muddy paths shared with animals),
•To car-dominated planning (mid-20th century),
•To a slow rediscovery of pedestrian priority (today).
@realfrank22@KHOU@JMilesKHOU No this isn’t possible @METROHouston and @HouPublicWorks@houmayor removes them - crosswalk removal by Katz - data just want speed - also where is the equity of support for Manuel Molina. We got a problem Houston and this is just the beginning! HAWK is not the solution!
@houmayor@MoPD_Houston Many sidewalks still lack ADA-compliant ramps following recent remilling and asphalt work. Why haven’t these been addressed? In 2013, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Transportation (DOJ/DOT) issued a joint technical assistance memorandum on this:
The raised crosswalk was installed after 2 pedestrians were fatally struck. By removing the crosswalk, Whitmire is not only disrespecting the lives lost, but is ensuring that more deaths will follow. Whitmire has blood on his hands and he doesn't care.

@houmayor@MoPD_Houston even just through milling and overlay, is considered an alteration. When such an alteration occurs and the street has pedestrian walkways crossing it (like sidewalks or crosswalks), accessible curb ramps must be installed or brought up to standard at those crossings.
Bob Stein leaves an indelible legacy. He always believed in progress for our district and #Houston. My thoughts are with his family.
