The name of the game is to score points. @CoachClaytonW and South Carolina’s defense has made that a nightmare to achieve for Garrett Riley and Clemson these past two years. In their last two meetings, the Gamecocks defense has allowed just two touchdowns to Clemson.
The Tigers entered yesterday’s game with the No.6 offense in the country and averaging 37.6 ppg. This weekend they were held to just 14 points. That’s their second lowest all season on a day in which the Tigers forced three takeaways.
Prior to Saturday, Clemson had scored 75% of the time after a takeaway. White’s defense didn’t allow a point after a Tiger takeaway.
One talking point that South Carolina has preached since @CoachSBeamer arrived is that yards don’t equal points, or as many refer to it as bend don’t break. That was on display again Saturday and another reason why White is up for the Broyles Award.
What does today’s win for South Carolina over Clemson mean? It means…
- First 9-win regular season since 2013
- Beating Clemson 2 out of the last 3 meetings
- Winning two straight in Clemson for the first time since 2010 & 12
- Shane Beamer surpasses Steve Spurrier for the most wins by any Gamecock head coach in their first four seasons
and…
- USC keeps their playoff hopes alive
No need to mix in a water tonight, Columbia
LaNorris Sellers threw for 353 yards and 5 touchdowns tonight.
Led a 75-yard TD drive down a point with 5 mins left and another 70-yard TD drive to win it with 47 seconds.
Ice in veins for the redshirt freshman QB.
Say whatever you want about the 2pt conversion and last pass, but I am ultra optimistic on our qb1 and the future of this team. It sure as chit ain’t easy back there! @Tailgatetalk547 @PatDiMarco42
One last reminder…
Connor Shaw, the greatest QB in Gamecock history to date, first college start stats:
3/9 for 21 passing yards, w/ 7 carries, 26 yards, & 1 fumble against a would-be 5-7 ECU team (C-USA)
I’m watching the women’s basketball game between South Carolina and Notre Dame right now and I just saw the best move in all of basketball including the pros like LeBron, Steph, KD, Victor, and Jokic. Everyone must see the coast-to-coast, behind-the-back move by freshman guard MiLaysia Fulwiley from South Carolina. WOW!! @GamecockWBB
Not a win but @GamecockFB showed a ton of progress in areas requiring development. As an alumni I am extremely encouraged with the growth. Cocks showed every remaining game is up for grabs #gococks#forevertothee
