@RMTunion there are many people with learning disabilities who CAN use a ticket window like any other passenger, but could not use a machine without assistance.
This is a backward step in equality of access to services and slams their disability in their face.
@CrossCountryUK@RMTunion great work by guard on train from Cardiff to deal with a disruptive passenger calmly and professionally. We need guards on trains.
In 13 years as Green MP, I've called out incompetent Ministers, challenged Government cowardice over #Brexit, demanded more affordable housing, helped secure ban on fracking, stood up for refugees – and always put #BrightonPavilion first. Some of my highlights in Parliament 👇📽️
@ErdingtonWMP These autonomous cars have a lot to answer for. That's three serious collisions involving vulnerable road users in Erdington this week. Two fatal, two hit-and-runs and two where the victim was a child. What's being done about it?
This understated Times column is the most sinister thing I have read about civil rights in this country for a very long https://t.co/1FMgU6dl2l IT PLEASE
Because the people that Farage & co were so desperate to 'keep out' didn't really exist, the Home Office flails around like a dropped shower head spraying 'control' all over the shop. 'Small boats' lies are the most obvious consequence, here's a smaller, utterly ridiculous, one.
‘Dismayed’ does not begin to describe our reaction to the £250m cut to the social care workforce.

📈With an average vacancy rate of 21% and significant limitations to the home office sponsorship scheme, the priority must be recruitment and retention.
Here at Dimensions, we are determined to pay our staff at the level they deserve and have implemented three pay awards in the last year, but we’re restricted in going further by tough limits on local authority budgets.
We won’t be deterred.
We will continue to call for support worker pay to be aligned to NHS Band 3, a benchmark that reflects the skills required and will stop our dedicated workforce from being treated as second-class citizens.

When we worked together at Ch4, Paul O’Grady insisted that new roles on his show were advertised in the local Job Centre. He wanted anyone and everyone to be able to apply so they could get a break like he had. And it made the show better. A kind and generous man.
The honour has been completely devalued, of course: Goldsmith, Hannan, Lebedev, Moylan etc. But it seems especially hilarious to reward a chap from a ridiculous outfit credited with inspiring the most catastrophic economic policies in living memory.
