Italian Communist appeal to raise money for striking British miners, 1926
"Whatever little we can contribute will have great value. ... showing the Fascist slavers ... that their prisons, their chains ... will never suffocate the Italian proletariat's spirit of class solidarity"
@donalhassett1 There is a fantastic falafel van in the yard of St Pancras church on Euston Rd, just a few minutes west of the BL. I highly recommend that for lunch.
@donalhassett1 Bring a printed proof of address plus id with you. You need to initially pick three books you want to see when you register (or at least you used to). You can order more after that on the day. Rare Books and Music is quieter than Hums 1 or 2 and books can be ordered to there.
@breeda_murphy@EamonMelia Thanks very much for sharing this. As late as 2001 my school brought us for a 'retreat' to Bessborough to learn about our feelings, love and god etc. This from a community school. Such hypocrisy, not a word about what went on there. Makes me sick to think about it.
800,000 kids live in poverty in the UK but still don’t get a free school meal.
They now get to look up at a portrait of King Charles. He gets £86ml of us every year, soon to be £125ml.
The portraits are costing £8ml.
There’s a pretty disgusting school lesson in that duplicity.
A week-long series of events is being planned in West Cork to remember the 225th anniversary of the only battle fought in Munster during the United Irishmen rebellion.
