Been working with Pat for the last year and a half—his growth has been fun to watch. Smart, athletic, and puts in the work. Someone to keep an eye on this year! He’s a good one!
Big thanks to David Fales @DavidFales, who played QB in the NFL for 7 years and former SJSU & MPC QB, for stopping by and talking to our older guys about preparation, leadership, and overcoming adversity!

Had a great Elite 11 camp at Bishop Gorman! Competed with the top Qbs across the country learning and getting better! Ran a 4.89 40 at 6’5 225 pounds @DavidFales@Elite11@NorCalPatrick
Over the course of my football career (and even more after), I have read many books on performance and self-development.
While I enjoyed many of those books, and learned a lot, there is only 1 book I can say truly had a life-changing impact on me as an athlete during my career -
I agree! Multiple coaches taught me back foot first until I got to the higher levels.
I learned by trial and error and watching the best to do it! I felt slower moving my back foot first in practice, and in games (when you react and not think/drill), I would move my left foot first every time.
(Of course, the book goes into detail on all of this. But these are my high-level takeaways.)
So, if you are an athlete in any capacity, I highly suggest getting a copy of this book! Its the one book I tell all my QBs to get at any level.

The practice of Visualization
The influence my self-talk had on my performance
Being Process vs Outcome oriented
Establishing confidence through preparation (it is normal to be nervous)
Effective long-term and short-term goal-setting
