@archivetvmus71 I'm a memory man, but you're really pushing them out with vigour......it used to be on Fridays on RTE 1 in Ireland, late 70s, and was a talking point with kids. Nice locations and seemed to be all done on-site, with no soundstage?
@trevorbaxendale@RemiSteele1982 Also in '82 Christopher Reeve was mentioned. That's right! Broccoli wouldn't risk his franchise after the rumour began of Kevin McGlory (who owned rights to Thunderball) remaking the old Bond film, and bringing back Connery in the role, ie 'Never Say Never Again'
@RodneyMarshall1@d4doome The Prisoner was first shown in Ireland in summer 1979 on RTE 2, which was a fairly new channel. It had a 10.30 pm Sunday night slot, and was a talking point or watercooler subject. No internet or ways of getting spoilers so all about it was a complete mystery
@RodneyMarshall1@d4doome Rodney, two questions, did CBS in the US show Danger Man? How long of a gap was there between when DM ended and Prisoner began?
@Dene71 Whatever Happy Apple's secret was it went to No. 1 in the ratings shortly after it began and topped over Corrie at the time, and those were the days when No. 1 was about 17 million viewers. For whatever reason it wasn't picked up for 2nd season
@RodneyMarshall1 Dana Wynter, Hollywood actress of the 50s, did the first of two appearances in Magnum after she wrapped on the Irish miniseries, Bracken in 1982
@RodneyMarshall1 It also did another crossover with Simon and Simon in Season 3, which boosted S+S. But the Murder, She Wrote crossover kept Magnum relevant in Season 6/1986. MSW was constant Top 10 in the US
@RodneyMarshall1 Did Catweazle ever get back to his own time? Richard Carpenter was a great writing talent. Somebody mentioned Ghosts of Motley Hall - also a great show
@Dene71 Interesting pick. It was based on an old novel, and old movie. Huge hit on BBC and RTE in Ireland. It mixed old Hollywood....Howard Duff, Kevin McCarthy Stella Stevens with the younger breakout tv stars, Mark Harmon, Morgan Fairchild, and the interesting David Selby.
@judyjarvis Judy and @Gculloty87 , thanks for this. I never knew of the series. Ray McAnally was consistently excellent throughout his working life. I look forward to catching your work with him Judy
