On top of the FM resisting calls for housing to be explicitly within a Cabinet portfolio, the ministerial portfolio that previously included responsibility for a ‘Just Transition’ to net zero now makes no mention of that - Gillian Martin is now just ‘Minister for Climate Action’.

Well @ACampbellCIHCM I think we all know who’s not been offering many actions on this! Retrofit/clean heat on a large scale won’t happen without subsidy for owners & social landlords. How else can costs often over £40k per home be afforded? Ministers’ heads still in the sand….

Good podcast, but wrong of Lesley to portray the members as being a different group from the tenants. 90% of the members who voted were tenants. She also overlooked that the independent tenant adviser declared its support for the transfer and so didn’t remain independent at all.

@DavidGWSF The housng supply budget cut is almost identical to the cost of the council tax freeze and the CT freeze is twice the value of the additional forecast income tax receipts. We do need more borrowing and multi year investment powers for Scotland but not unnecessary constraints.

Could be argued that today’s deeply depressing cuts to the housing supply prog were needed to fund the FM’s futile, wretched decision to freeze council tax. Social housing supports the poorest; freezing c/tax doesn’t - it saves UK Govt. money.
