Our Unity is Strength
I close my eyes
And I’m back there again
It’s 1989
And I’m trapped in that pen.
I can’t breath anymore
I’m drifting away
The memories are vivid
Of that horrific day.
I open my eyes
It’s been 35 years
But the feelings are raw
And so are the tears.
We will never forget
What happened back then
To the 97 children,
Women and men.
We are the survivors
Who will tell you at length
The truth of that day
Our unity is strength.
