“In Search of Safe Haven: The Wandering Jew”
Sunday 2 August 2026
Session time is 2.45 - 3.30 pm
From a German-Jewish family spanning more than 300 years, to the little-known proposal for a Jewish homeland in Texas, to a contemporary pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago, this conversation explores journeys of displacement, resilience and self-discovery. Drawing on family archives, historical research and personal experience, the panel examines how migration shapes identity, how communities preserve memory across generations, and what the search for belonging can teach us about Jewish life, past and present.
Panel Chair:
Michael Visontay - ‘Noble Fragments’ and Sydney Morning Herald
Panellists:
Rachel Cockerall, Adam Van Heerden and me.
Books will be available (and signed if you like) at the event.
I can't believe that my book launch was nearly a year ago. And my work is progressing on the second volume of my family history. The second volume will include my second family history research road trip and the many discoveries of ancestors and their stories since the first book. I hope to have it out at the end of this year.
The first book is still available at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum and on Amazon: https://t.co/qmAHuIPSV9
Miracles do indeed happen 🤭
A young German female activist from the latest Gaza flotilla was filmed by media in a neck-brace with her face looking “bruised and battered”, her expression tearful and “traumatized” after being held for a few hours in Israel.
But then…. The Miracle 🤣
Just a couple of hours later, the same young German female activist was filmed perfectly fine, bouncing around, smiling and cheering… no bruises, no marks, no neck-brace, no injuries, no anything in fact.
It is simply incredible the superhuman powers of recovery she showed. Even Wolverine and the X-Men would be jealous 😂

Great article about the Antisemitism Royal Commission. The testimonies have been moving and terrifying. I hope the RC comes out with realistic, concrete and effective recommendations.
