'Disability Confident' to me has always been the poster child for the phrase 'how do we make it **look** like we're doing something?'
Judging by the figures in this newswire piece all it's done is provide the gov with soundbites (at eye watering costs)

@ScrtDrugAddict At the moment I accept, as best as I can, that I can't. (Things are currently way too complicated and whilst I'm not in crisis I'm definitely in way over my head)
I then have 999 and samaritans (116 123) on speed dial. And I don't keep alcohol or too much junk food in the house!
On a side note, @EBallroomCamden it would be great if you would think about stocking one or two non alcoholic beers at the bar for those that are driving or can’t/don’t want to drink alcohol
The worst bit of ending up on the floor isn't the hours waiting for help, or the damage to your body, but the fact you have to dismiss the same ideas over and over.
If there was something that could be done to improve it I'd have done it by now.
I don't like this anymore.
@pbmcmlxxi Thanks. I'm sure it will, and I appreciate that it's now not a simple fix given the government's (of all colours) priorities over the last 30 years but like most things we're storing up big problems because we're not investing 'now'
Filling in my Blue Badge form and I’d forgotten how invasive it was. I don’t know why receipt of high rate PIP isn’t enough. ‘Sure, let me send you a complete list of my medications. That seems necessary and proportionate to letting me park near Sainsbury’s.’
It's not a unique problem, but simply one of too few suitable houses being built, often in the wrong areas.
If you're going for an economic argument against this just ask how much I cost the support services - it's already orders of magnitude more than solving the core issue.
So for that, and other reasons, a house move is the only solution.
But the only properties that are wheelchair accessible in the area have a 55 or over restriction;are a care home; or worse, have too many bedrooms.

“Just ask for help” is all over Twitter.
Yeah, NAH.
#MentalHealthWeek2019: packed with the usual simplistic nonsense. It’s like gaslighting for those of us who:
-did ask for help
-got hurt by a coercive psychiatric system
-had experiences of violence & abuse ignored or denied

.... and for what it's worth I really want everyone to have the opportunity and experiences to have their best life possible.
The last tweet wasn't about being selfish or jealous, it was simply an appraisal of how such tweets currently affect me.
Eat.
Sleep.
Argue with professionals about a dangerous house; a broken car; and benefit decisions that bear no resemblance to reality.
Repeat.
No wonder the state of my mental health is at it's worst for years.

If my reaction to the previous mental health awareness days are anything to by I'll be logging off here soon.
It's hard to see both 'horror stories' intermixed with tweets that I perceive as 'this could have been you're life'
Sometimes the best self-defence is to walk away.
Saddened but not in the slightest bit shocked to read this news story
The amount of buses / taxis that refuse to stop, or refuse entry to wheelchairs users seems to once again be going through the roof.
