Unpopular Fitness Truth:
The people who like and share memes making fun of mobility training are the same people who never make progress and are always battling injuries.
@Travel2be @Skyscanner When will I get a refund for my cancelled Air Canada flights on April 22 and 27? I have received no information from you since April 4th. I would appreciate some information and a response.
RomWod is awesome. It can improve your flexibility, help you relax and teach you how to stay calm through discomfort.
However, remember mobility = flexibility + STRENGTH + CONTROL. It is your ACTIVE range of motion, not just passive.
Therefore, RomWod is NOT mobility training.
CrossFit goals you can work towards during lockdown:
1) Improve your strict and kipping HSPUs, and pull ups if you have a bar.
2) Work towards Rx pistol squats or improve them.
3) PR your Open 17.1 time.
4) PR your 1 mile or 5k run.
5) DO SOME MOBILITY TRAINING FOR PETE'S SAKE!
Lockdown is happening and will continue to happen until who knows when.
Your initial reaction to that may be sorrow, anxiety, despair, frustration etc.
That's ok. Just remember, whilst we can't always control what happens, we can always control how we respond to what happens.
If you do yoga because you love yoga, that's awesome keep doing it.
If you only do yoga in order to improve your mobility, stop doing yoga and start doing functional range conditioning.
Stop rolling around on lacrosse balls and PVC pipes and start strength training your joints.
Give your body strength and control in the ranges of motion you need and you won't have to use your warm ups trying to trick your nervous system into giving you more range of motion.
The content you consume on Instagram, facebook, YouTube etc. is just as important as the food you consume.
Eat chocolate, candy and crisps all day and your body will feel terrible.
Watch bad news, negativity and vanity all day and your mind will feel the same...
To all my CrossFitters:
Remember when all you would do is the daily WOD and you would never work on your mobility because you were too busy/lazy/tired?
Now's your chance.
How people think they should prepare for COVID-19:
- Panic buy hand sanitizer, toilet paper and surgical masks.
How you should actually prepare:
- Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
- Have a healthy diet.
- Drink in moderation.
- Exercise regularly.
- Try to minimize stress.
2 simple ways to get stronger in 2020:
1. Focus more on your recovery. Don't overtrain, sleep more, take rest days, eat healthy food.
2. Pick a program and STICK TO IT. Programs are carefully designed for you to peak at certain times. Pick a reputable one and give it a chance.
The "I don't have time to train" starter pack:
3 snooze buttons: 30 minutes
1 Netflix episode: 1 hour
Instagram scrolling: 30 minutes
YouTube videos: 30 minutes
Total: 2.5 hours
Take one of those hours and work out!
Even if the reason you work out is to lose weight, you should still set goals to lift more weight, do more reps and get faster times. It'll motivate you to train harder.
Weightloss is much more about what you eat anyway so you need better reasons to keep training.
The "I can't afford personal training" starter pack:
Weekly expenditure:
5 coffees from Devil's Isle: $18
3 smoothies from Buzz: $33
Bottle of wine at dinner: $70
4 drinks at doghouse: $44
Total: $165
Drink water instead and get fit.
Can supplement companies please stop putting a plastic scooper in every tub of protein? It creates a lot of waste! 90% of people have one already. Scoopers should be sold separately. #savetheplanet
