More of the dark side of human nature from the excellent @davidmarkwriter@severnhouse In ‘Don’t Say a Word’ traffic cop Sal Delaney becomes involved in a murder/abduction mystery which is almost Gothick in its intensity. A grim, but compelling read. https://t.co/JPpApiCLMp
I make no apologies for comparing @davidmarkwriter@severnhouse to the late, great Derek Raymond. Both describe almost incomprehensible evil, degradation and suffering but, like Raymond, Mark knows that this will only work with a protagonist who is decent and compassionate. He/she provides a sense of redemption. https://t.co/CmEFHBgSDo

Into the last few pages of Gone by @MarciaKimTurner It’s an astonishing read, because the murder mystery, while absorbing, takes second place to the personal life of DCI John Meredith. Sufficient to say that his married life torments him, and he is faced with some serious judgment calls. Full review in due course, but it is brilliantly written, with such emotional intelligence.

"David Mark himself plays Dante's Virgil, as he leads us through Purgatory and Hell, contrasting his monstrous villains with McAvoy who, although, a physical giant, is gentle, endearingly clumsy, but fiercely brave. @davidmarkwriter@severnhouse#PastRedemption
