We are happy to announce a 2-day flume workshop at Utrecht University with Joris Eggenhuisen! This workshop is targeted at anyone who works with sediments and is interested in studying sediment transport, bedforms and sedimentary processes in action in the lab.
🌊🌟 2 Days to Go! 🌟🌊 Get ready to make a difference! Join us for the Green Network Initiative and Nascent Community beach cleanup at Elegushi Beach to combat plastic waste. Let's come together to protect our beautiful coastline and promote environmental stewardship.
Incredibly grateful for such a beautiful summer with tremendous learning experience and growth… gearing up for a fantastic Fall semester. Before that, let’s go explore at #IMAGE next week!
First @SEPMGEO Bouma conference @UniUtrecht a huge success! Pretty tired after four days of such good science, but so many new ideas and collaborations. Huge thanks to @Moving_Sand and George Postma for organizing - best conference I’ve been to in many years!
Playing around with FIJI (aka ImageJ) for image thresholding - pretty amazing! These are pretty ideal images, but being able to automate this is going to save @DavidNworie1 a LOT of time in his carbonate particle shape studies!

Check out the start lineup for the @SEPMGEO special #carbonate conference! Our very own Arnoud Slootman here at @coschoolofmines will give an invited talk in the deepwater session, and I will have a poster on 'matrix' 😎
@lizzy_t @RobertCMahon @ZaneJobe Hi @lizzy_t Can we talk about your camsizer over a call sometime? I will know to know the method it uses and other specs…
Looking for recommendations for labs that can do measurements for laser grain size and/or QICPIC analysis - this is for @DavidNworie1 's thesis, and we are especially intersted in particle shape, not just size. Utah State? Montana?
Happy birthday to the founder of #GreenNetworkInitiative@DavidNworie1
We wanted to take a moment to wish you a very happy birthday! Your leadership, guidance, and support have been invaluable to the team, and we're so grateful to have you at the helm.
A beach with mixed carbonate and siliciclastic sediments… even tho some of the sediments are dredged it was cool to observe the hydro-dynamics here at the Atlantic coast of Miami! BTW warm is the new chill!
If you’ve noticed a pink hue to the water at Torrey Pines State Beach, don’t fret—it’s research in action. Learn more about the experiment led by Sarah Giddings' lab, what researchers are hoping to find, and why pink dye is being used in this study. ⬇️ 🌊
