This video shared by @JohnKerry describes the EMIT imaging spectrometer's detection of CH4 superemitters from the international space station. We have now detected over 1000 plumes!
In a notable "first," we demonstrate on-orbit alignment, measuring and correcting a sub-micron tilt in the focal plane array. That's tiny! If the spectrometer were the size of the continental USA, this adjustment would be approximately the length of a pingpong table.
A lesson in remote sensing of snow from the one and only Jeff Dozier! What better than a spectrometer to measure snow’s light absorption and resulting melt rates? #AGU23
Breaking news from EMIT: the first global maps of surface minerals in arid regions! Continental-scale mineralogy at 60m resolution yields some surprisingly beautiful maps. It's astonishing how much we still have to learn about our planet.

Lunar Thermal Mapper (LTM) has been integrated with the Lunar Trailblazer spacecraft! 🚀
Built by @OxfordAOPP and contributed by @spacegovuk, LTM will work together with Lunar Trailblazer's HVM3 instrument to find lunar water.

Here's something to cheer(s) about going into the weekend! 🍷
Thanks to an airborne instrument developed here at JPL, scientists detected a costly infection in cabernet sauvignon grapevines before they showed symptoms visible to the human eye. https://t.co/fHSrdetEnz
