Stay safe out there today. We’re seeing hundreds of text messages being sent using the One NZ Satellite text service, delivered in partnership with @Starlink Direct to Cell from @SpaceX.

Satellite texting adds an additional layer of resiliency if you’re in an area with power outages that are disrupting mobile networks.

We’ve opened basic SMS messaging to more One NZ customers* located north of Hamilton and Tauranga plus Rotorua, in this emergency situation during Cyclone Tam.

If you’re on another mobile network and have a VoLTE-capable phone you can pick up a One NZ Prepay SIM at your local dairy, supermarket, petrol station, or other retail outlet.
