Whatever happened to the mirror test for those @AroundTheNFL locks?
Rampant favourites being picked, shards of shattered glass all over the floors of NFL Media HQ.
@michaelbutler18 I think the question a lot of people are asking is whether in the same way that only VIPs get to booze it up in the Qatar stadiums, do only VIP footballers get soft penalties like that one?
Quick question for any editors out there: what would be the optimal number of lines to use for the subhead on an article like this?
Doesn't have to be exact, just a rough idea? Cheers.
@Independent_ie
@bigdaddybunce recently read a book called 'The Bittersweet Science'. Published in 2017 but somehow I'd missed it, don't know if you did too but it is one of the most insightful books on boxing I've ever come across.
@randomtape@jonronson I did, and will recommend.
If I could give one note it would be to end each installment in the startled voice of Jon Ronson when he says the pod is by "ME!" at the end of each episode.
Otherwise you have the approval of this Spain-living middle-aged man. (Lots of hyphens.)
@jonronson love your work.
Now that I've gotten your attention. (True though)
The Superhero Complex pod... I know you were only briefly involved but wasn't there something slippery about it? Who is David Weinberg? 7 eps and the denouement is a body slam to the protagonist.
@randomtape@jonronson I have now listened to the last episode @randomtape and feel obliged to apologise for jumping the gun. It was a great podcast series and did give both sides of the story. Sorry for succumbing to twitter trigger-happiness.
@randomtape@jonronson I am a fan of the show and it's nice of you to respond. I just felt you were setting a troubled but well-meaning lad up for a fall but you are quite right that I should wait for the last episode before drawing any conclusions.
@jonronson You don't have to but I felt it was one among many of the Pod Industrial Complex where they throw enough shite at a wall and see which demographic becomes engaged. (I did)
Seems to run rampant over the protagonists though. And the 'journalist' doesn't exist on Google. I do!
@SecondCaptains F'me Katie Taylor is the greatest Irish sportsperson of all time. Win or lose.
Feel free to disagree, but I challenge you to find a better one.
@bigdaddybunce Watched the fight from Spain on DAZN with Spanish commentators.
They felt Warrington was using the head too much and that it was an early stoppage.
It's all about perspective of course, I don't necessarily agree but thought I'd share.
F1 is mostly rich kids driving very fast cars - cars sponsored and owned by obscenely rich people and raced in questionable locales - safe in the knowledge that nothing can ever harm them because nothing ever has.
I still love Drive to Survive though.
It's just great.
@jonronson@SamHarrisOrg Ha! Well that's a pretty good answer.
I'm not going to recommend Mr Harris' book as following his logic I won't need to, as either you'll read it or you won't.
Made me think though, which is probably a good thing.
@jonronson just read the book Free Will by @SamHarrisOrg.
Seemed convincing to me but what do you think? Or is my asking pointless because my question was as drearily inevitable as your answer?
I hope not.
@SecondCaptains I am currently reading The Moth and The Mountain (Ed Caesar) which is really good.
For an all-time classic Paper Lion is fantastic, read it again a couple of years ago and it still holds up.
