@kenallan123 @EoghanMacNamara @RonnocHenderson How many of the past SAL Academy inductees stay in the sport beyond the age of 20-21? SA identify the athletes at 16 years of age, give them support for a couple of years and then let them drift from the sport. Is it any wonder we don’t have high senior entries at the senior’s?
@kenallan123 @EoghanMacNamara @RonnocHenderson I think I have said this time and time again. Unless you are stepping straight from Scottish Schools to a GB squad what is the incentive to stay in the sport. Many talented athletes will drop from the sport when they think SSAA is the highest accolade they are likely to achieve.
@kenallan123 @EoghanMacNamara @RonnocHenderson Just look at the current GB squad, even the Scottish CGW squad. There are many athletes reaching their potential well into their twenties. SA need to find a way to encourage many more seniors to remain competitive to that age.
@kenallan123 @EoghanMacNamara @RonnocHenderson SA need to put a strategy in place to retain athletes as they move from U17/U20 to senior. It’s not that senior athletes don’t want to compete they are simply not in the sport. SA need to put something in place to keep talent in the sport beyond U17/U20.
@kenallan123 My daughter and I are already traveling to Scotstoun in Nov for the Athletics Coach Days 1&2. That is 2 overnight stays on top of the travel and course fees. Not sure I have the will for more RDDs on top of that. Dundee is over an hours drive from Abz. Inverness is 2.5 hours.
