@ophirw100@MissAdiLahat@NationalTheatre@Blod_wen Thank you Ophir. Weβre so proud of this show. Very moving tonight that the mention of Alan Turing got applause. I think this piece touches the hearts of so many people.
I know I am currently working in commercial theatre but the sub-rep sector is where my heart lies. it's where theatre's core is (in my opinion). it's where the meaning of theatre can be altered and adapted and challenged to be what the world right now needs.
this is that.
the writing is just... beautiful. the fine line between comedy and gut-wrenching sadness is tread so delicately and precisely that you are held in the palm of their hands for the entire journey.
I don't think I've ever seen a show that does that.
when music is intertwined and used it is emotion-inducing and well placed. it adds a level of something I can't quite pinpoint but it lifts everything.
there is no complex set changes or flashy design elements. it is a largely-simple lights up and lights down with some beautiful blended cross-overs between scenes. it is never lost on the audience where we are because they tell you. the stand onstage and tell you where they are.
this play is everything theatre should be. it tells a story, a powerful story that needs to be told, deserves to be told. I say a lot that I like it when theatre challenges, questions and provokes thought... The Normal Heart does *exactly* that.
my thoughts on "The Normal Heart" at the @NationalTheatre have become somewhat cohesive but I am still getting goosebumps thinking about the play. so here goes it;
the performances and direction are faultless.

world class. thank you for giving that space and that audience your everything.
Dominic Cooke is a force to be reckoned with. to land a piece written in 1985, about the preceding 4 years and it feel present and necessary was scary. but everything, absolutely everything that stage should be used for.
@dannyleewynter Appreciation Danny. I had to speak out after #TheNormalHeart performance for all the friends I lost early in the AIDS pandemic because of government indifference & inaction. We survivors must be the voices of the dead
