Can't help but remember what @ChrisPirillo mentioned years ago regarding how #twitter is really all about conversation. Especially these days it seems that that element is missing :(.
@kentcdodds Thanks! I've been up since 3am Eastern time ... going to catch some sleep and hope for the best. Hopefully that app isn't a hard requirement if it just doesn't work ...
@kentcdodds Hey Kent, the calendar invite says to install https://t.co/Xv9ao2JgU8 I just spent about 8 hours trying to get the app to work on linux (PopOS 22.04 using distrobox and then Gnome-boxes with an Ubuntu 24.04 VM) and failing... I don't a modern version of OS X or windows. Help?
If you're getting "libEGL fatal: did not find extension DRI_Mesa version 1" when trying run either wezterm or ghostty on PopOS 22.04 (based on ubuntu 22.04) jammy try to `sudo apt-get dist-upgrade` . Via https://t.co/p79AhAz0zG
`bin/rails runner` can go in a shebang:
#!bin/rails runner
<this code runs with the app loaded>
Then, chmod u+x scripts/my_script.rb.
For some use cases, this is handy and simple.
Persisting dynamic data to a column (denormalizing) is a tricky tradeoff.
It's like caching: you suddenly have to care about all the myriad ways in which this data can become stale. There's a lot of opportunities to create bugs.
Usually only best when it's the last option.
@caike I don't know about it being cultural since I don't get them either.
I don't understand why you would want to tear someone down like that. Further why would anyone that cares about you consider that funny? It just doesn't make sense to me.
We're looking for an intern to join us @GoRails this summer.
You'll build, test & deploy an open source @Rails app with us. It'll be a great way to get some hands-on, real world experience with Rails and mentorship.

On this anniversary of #StarTrek#DS9 's pilot episode "Emissary" we imagine a TV show with the same name and this would be its opening sequence:
