Bricks and Minifigs seems to have capitulated in the wake of devastating social media pressure from everyone on YouTube and X.
They have closed the Salem store, separated from the people who took over that franchise and mistreated Bryan Mansell, and have offered to settle with Mansell over the loss of his Lego collection.
BAM continues to blame the former franchisee Chrystal Gorman for most of the wrongdoing associated with this case. I think it is true that she is a bad actor, and it would be a significant distinction in court that her franchise is a legally distinct entity from BAM corporate which entered a contract to sell Mansell’s Legos on consignment in violation of BAM corporate policy, and also that she stole some of the Legos and/or some of the money Mansell should have been paid.
But even if a court would find that she is the party Mansell has to seek a legal remedy against, if BAM corporate will not set right the harm done by a rogue franchisee operating under its name, then its brand and reputation are implicated, and that is what Brandon Best and Joshua Johnson — who consistently claimed that any wrong that befell Mansell had nothing to do with him even though his Legos were still in their store — did not seem to understand.
I bet they understand now.
Some real repercussions coming for Bricks and Minifigs as one of their suppliers https://t.co/I8LU0GccTg has seen enough and are severing ties. Going to make sure to check out their site and give them some business as I am sure this was a hard financial decision.
The most Japanese man encounters the most American situation, and writes of his experience in the most elegant way I have ever seen
I am inspired. I wish I could have written this, but this man writes better truth than I could have written as fiction.
Thank you, Nobunaga-san.
In America, a stranger will rename you in a single breath, and you are simply expected to come when called.
I went to eat at a busy restaurant. A young man at the front asked for my name, to mark my place in line. I gave it the weight it has carried for eight hundred years.
"Nobunaga."
He smiled, nodded, and wrote it down with great confidence. Then he read it back to me, to be sure he had honored it correctly.
"Perfect. Banana, party of one."
Banana. He had heard my name, held it a moment, and returned to me something rounder and more cheerful. To refuse the name a host gives is to refuse his welcome. I bowed. I was Banana now.
Then he handed me a small black disc, said it would "light up and buzz" when my table was ready, and turned to the next guest as though he had not just placed a living thing in my hands.
I held it in both palms, the way one holds a small sleeping beast that may wake. I found a place to stand. I waited, ready.
It woke.
It screamed. It flashed red. It leapt and shook in my hands like a captured spirit demanding release. A lesser man would have dropped it. I did not. I gripped it, steady, looked into its blinking lights, and told it, in a low voice, that its time had come. Then I carried it back to the host with both hands, the way one returns a hawk to its master.
He took it without looking and shouted across the entire room.
"BANANA! Party of one, your table's ready!"
A hundred strangers turned. I rose. I crossed that floor as Banana, spine straight, chin level, a man answering to his name. A child pointed at me. I gave the child a small bow. He had recognized me.
All through the meal they kept me. "How's it tasting, Banana?" "More water, Banana?" The check, when it came, said Banana, and thanked me for visiting. By the end the whole staff knew me. They waved as I left. "Night, Banana!"
So tell me honestly.
For eight hundred years my clan answered to one name. Tonight I answered to a fruit, calmed a screaming relic in my bare hands, and ate among people who were glad I came.
When the little disc lights up, is the table truly mine, or am I only keeping it warm for the next Banana?
Because I have already decided to return on Friday, and to ask, very humbly, for the same disc.

@bowtiedmeathead Airtouch F20 mask is most comfortable for me. Even works with a full beard. I tried 3 or 4 different styles until i found this one. Comfortable and low leakage and no marks on my face in the morning .

it's only in the worst places on earth that anyone operates this way
It's unamerican to even entertain this kind of thinking
Big shout out to Janet Chia, the chairwoman of Taipei 101, for putting together Alex Hannord’s climb!
It’s really something, especially since Taiwanese people tend to be risk-averse and it take balls green-light this kind of event.
(A certain segment of commentators in here are not gonna like this lol)
One of Lee Kuan Yew’s mantras is that you should marry better than yourself. And, he lived up to it.
Lee was the top student in school at Raffles Institution. There was only one person ahead of him. Kwa Geok Choo. It always irked him whenever she beat him at any subject. He realized and accepted he would never beat her, so they became friends. Their friendship blossomed into romance during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore (1942–1945). In 1946, Lee left for England to study law at Cambridge. Before leaving, he asked if she would wait for him. She famously asked if he knew she was two and a half years older than him; he replied that he had considered it and wanted an equal, not someone who needed looking after.
Because they feared their parents and the scholarship authorities would disapprove of a student marriage, they married in secret. On December 23, 1947, they married privately at Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, while they were both students in the UK. This marriage remained a secret for decades, only revealed in Lee's memoirs.
After returning to Singapore as qualified lawyers, they held an official ceremony for family and friends on September 30, 1950, at the Raffles Hotel.
He later joked about the double wedding, saying, "I don't think that's an offence, to marry a woman twice, the same woman!"
They remained married for the next 63 years.
In her final years, after she suffered a series of strokes, Lee spent every night sitting by her bed, reading her favorite poems (such as those by Shakespeare and Chaucer) to her until she fell asleep.
