If you’re fed up with all this rain, I’ve got some good news.
A ridge of high pressure is set to build across the UK around mid-June, possibly even sooner. It will extend northward from the strong blocking high currently sitting over central and southern Europe.
There’s still some uncertainty about exactly how long this ridge will stick around, but if it does, we’re looking at a spell of warm, dry and settled weather. Peak temperatures could reach 27–30°C (and locally higher in the south-east), which would feel properly summery.
Thunderstorm fans, take note: hot spells like this often end with a thundery breakdown, so that remains a possibility too.
And yes… we are heading into summer, so this should feel normal, but as we all know, the UK likes to do things its own way!
