YOU CAN’T BUILD A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP IF YOU AVOID EVERY HARD CONVERSATION.
Shutting down, changing the subject, or walking away the moment things get uncomfortable isn’t maturity. It’s avoidance. Real growth is being able to sit in discomfort without turning it into distance. Grown love requires two people who can talk through it not run from it.
Y dime, ma, ¿cómo se siente estar conmigo encerrá'?
Pa' mí tenerte e' una necesidad
Sea la madre siempre que tú te va'
Me mata la ansiedad cuando tú ya no está'
¿Y qué cojones? Siempre quiere' volver
Mi debilidad, siempre te vo'a responder
Solo Dios sabe lo que yo vo'a hacer🎶
i fell in love with someone i had no idea i’d even fall for and something about this person awakened a part of me that had been asleep for a very long time
When you’re Autistic and/or ADHD, it can be difficult to determine how much to share in a conversation, because there seems to often be a fine line between sharing “too little” and “too much”, and if what we share is seen as falling on either side of the line, the conversation may soon become awkward.
If we share what is seen as too little, we may be perceived as guarded, disinterested and/or difficult to connect with.
If we share what is seen as “too much”, we may be perceived as self-focused and socially inappropriate, and people may then feel reluctant to connect with us.
This is a reason (albeit often one of many) why many of us can find social situations highly pressurising at times and feel nervous to speak in those situations.
Even when I think at length about how much to share, when I feel unsure or nervous I can become so reserved and say very little and not be able to bring myself to say more, or start sharing so much and not be able to stop because I’m stuck in the flow.
Given how challenging it can be to determine and then actually share an “appropriate” amount during a conversation, I think it would be so helpful if Autistics and ADHDers - and everyone, for that matter - could be given more grace in situations where what is perceived as “too little” or “too much” is shared.
the moment yall look at eachother one of you smiles and asks "what?" and the other smiles and says "nothing" that small confession of love is what i need
Functional depression is a real thing. You work, joke, make people happy, and take care of your family, yet mentally, you’re drowning in your own thoughts.
I feel like everything in my life has led me to you. My choices, my heartbreaks, my regrets. Everything. And when we're together, my past seems worth it. Because if I had done one thing differently, I might never have met you.
Soulmates always end up together no matter how much love is lost, no matter how distant you become. You lose each other to find each other again. That’s what it’s like when someone is meant for you. If you leave, or they leave, you will return to each other forever… If it’s destined.
My therapist told me no one tells anyone how hard it is to rewire your brain to allow good things to happen after experiencing so much trauma or pain. Blessings exist, good people exist & a softer life exists. Let it happen.
i could talk to you for hours and not get tired of your voice or your laugh. i could never get tired of seeing you smile. i really could never get tired of you at all.
