When you are going to reward the best plot diagram for The Giver by @LoisLowryWriter...things get competitive “I’m not taking the L for this!”- Andrejko @SouthavenMiddle#teamdcs
@MS_DHS Question- who do we contact about a lost card? I have called both numbers, and although your website said to call if you need assistance, assistance is not currently available, and it hasn't been for several months. I cannot for the life of me get a hold of anyone at your office.
A.S. King: "I specifically wanted to write books that helped adults understand teenagers and that helped teenagers understand adults. I wanted to somehow close the gap. Still do."

This year, like last year, my Oscars for best actor and actress go to teachers who stayed completely calm in front of their students even though they were breaking down internally. #Oscars#AcademyAwards#BestActor
Real learning loss is:
- students not having a teacher because they resigned.
- students having teachers who are burnt out.
- students having teachers who are struggling to survive so they have to work another job.
- students not having the resources that they need.
Resignations from this week in my county: all but 19 of 23 are "new teachers" (3rd year or less)

I legitimately don't know how some school buildings will be open next year.
A Tennessee school board has banned the Pulitzer Prize winning graphic novel MAUS by Art Spiegelman for disturbing images. What a tremendous loss and a horrendous shame that any academic institution cannot grasp the significance and resonance of this work of literary art.
Teachers who are shouting, posting, tweeting and pleading for help, higher pay and more support are NOT complaining or whining—it’s actually proof of how much they care about their students and education.
You should be concerned if they were quiet and complicit.
It breaks my heart to say this, but teacher attrition is taking place right in front of our eyes, and if things don’t change soon, and if we don’t treat and pay teachers better— there won’t be any teachers left. This is not sustainable as it is. #teachersdeservebetter
If your administrator is making it hard for you to do your job, you should let them know. You have every right to tell them and to expect for them to make changes.
Teachers should NOT have to cover another class during their planning. This has been one of the biggest exploitation of teachers planning. Realistically, if they don't have planning time, when do you expect them to plan? and if they cover then they should be paid for coverage.
As teachers are working to meet the needs of their students, who is ensuring that teachers have what they need to remain whole? Teachers' emotional struggles have a direct influence on their interactions with students. We must care for teachers, which will in turn help students!
This week, at the Tomb Of The Unknown Solider @ArlingtonNatl history was made. For the first time in the 84-year vigil, on the 30,770th day of the continuous guard, an all-woman changing of the guard occurred under the direction of the 38th Sergeant of the Guard, SFC Porterfield.
