Anthony Bourdain: “…the world is, in fact, filled with mostly good and decent people who are simply doing the best they can. Everybody, it turns out, is proud of their food (when they have it). They enjoy sharing it with others (if they can). They love their children...”
As a soft westerner, I must admit that I have a hard time watching the drone videos killing Russian invaders. Such tactics are necessary and it is good the Ukraine is deploying them. That being said, there is a helplessness to them that has always left me feeling that a combatant’s ability to surrender in the face of certain death is being removed.
I am glad to see videos like this, not only because it means that surrender for those who do not wish to fight is an option, but as an example of the humanity of Ukrainians. Knowing only a fraction of the pain they have suffered at the hands of Russians, I could not and would not ask them to show such grace, yet they do so. They show restraint, a respect for life, and civility that they never could expect from their enemy in this war.
My support for Ukraine will never waiver, and I feel as though Ukraine and its people continue to validate that support.
This mom & pop food truck in Detroit is serving up incredible Jamaican food. 🇯🇲🔥 While building their new restaurant, they paid a contractor over $100,000, only for him to complete half the job and disappear. Let’s show them some love and support a hardworking local business.
What's the deal with Detroit's Rivertown?
Belle Isle to the east. Downtown to the west. Waterfront parks to the south. Retail/groceries/etc north along Jefferson.
Should be a booming artsy loft district, yet it's maybe the slowest developing downtown-adjacent neighborhood.
