@thischairrocks What a fantastic article. What do people actually say they want and how does that compare with what we think they want? Always a useful question.
@thischairrocks @EvaWiseman All pursuits come with costs. The pursuit of longevity is time-consuming and expensive. Interesting to ask if there might be better uses of that time, energy and money.
@thischairrocks@nyadmovie @OldsterMag What a powerful reflection! This really hit me: “[They] are people looking for a group you need in order to make, collectively, a thing of beauty. They’re looking for the sense of belonging that only a group, cooperating and united, can produce.”
#Loneliness isn't an old-people problem. It's a modern-human problem. According to this @WHO +@Gallup + @Meta study, olders (age 65+) report the lowest rates of feeling lonely and youngers (age 19 -29) the highest. https://t.co/wrZolv1sAy
@thischairrocks@CedarsSinai Always a challenge to hear what is not there - and yet so important to recognize the #ageism in the negative space, in absence.
@thischairrocks A problematic conclusion? The suggested solution is to reassure "seniors" that they can still bear fruit in this golden season of their lives. But all trees have value, fruit-bearing or not. The challenge remains. Create a world where older people don't want to kill themselves.
It's not about pointlessly trying to be who you can be no longer but about being curious about the person you are becoming - giving yourself every chance to grow today and for tomorrow. @ILCCanada@thischairrocks@OldSchool_Info#MoveForTomorrow
