Congratulations!
Ethiopia has once again kept its promise. 800 million trees planted in a single day.
This is what can be achieved when a nation unites around a common purpose. Every seedling planted today is an investment in a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the leadership and staff of its affiliated institutions, joined ambassadors of neighboring countries and members of the Ethiopian diaspora in this year's Green Legacy Initiative by carrying out a tree-planting program in Bishoftu.
The tree-planting campaign was officially launched by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos. The event was attended by State Ministers Ambassador Hadera Abera and Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, alongside ambassadors of neighboring countries, members of the diplomatic corps, and Ministry staff.
A total of 4,063 fruit tree seedlings were planted during the initiative, contributing to environmental sustainability while supporting food security. The initiative also complements Ethiopia's preparations for hosting the 32nd United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP32). As Bishoftu is expected to serve as an additional accommodation hub for the large number of international delegates who will travel to Ethiopia for the conference, the tree-planting campaign will help enhance the city's greenery, cleanliness, and attractiveness, particularly along its major access roads. This, in turn, will further strengthen Ethiopia's positive image on the international diplomatic stage.
Ethiopian soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice to halt the spread of terrorism. #Ethiopia is not present in #Somalia in pursuit of distant or self-serving objectives. Ethiopia stands in Somalia for the peace & security of the country & the stability of the entire region.
Only 5 days remain to make history through the united arm of all Ethiopians by planting 800 million seedlings in a single day! In these remaining days, I call upon my beloved fellow citizens to make the necessary preparations, rise with determination, and ensure the victory we will achieve in our unity.
Together, let us plant hope!

Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Zimbabwe and Benin on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, currently underway in Addis Ababa.
During his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira, the two ministers reaffirmed the longstanding and cordial bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Zimbabwe. ARBA MINCH CONTINUES TO FLOURISH AS A SOURCE OF DEVELOPMENT!
Today, we visited the Kuriftu Resort and Spa in Arba Minch, which is being developed on a 52,000-square-meter site. This major project includes 53 luxury villas and will create permanent employment opportunities for more than 300 citizens. Investments like this clearly demonstrate the significant contribution the private sector can make by building upon the infrastructure established by the Medemer government.
I call on both domestic and international investors to actively engage in Ethiopia and invest in major projects like this, which will elevate our country’s tourism potential to a new level.
