Today's America has nothing in common with what the founding fathers wanted it to be. Today, America is held hostage by war mongers, right racists and populists.

Happy 4th of July?

Millions of Americans think they’re celebrating 250 years of “freedom” today, but what they’re really celebrating is 250 years of corruption, endless war, and a capitalist system that exploits the many to enrich the few.

The uncomfortable truth is none of us in the U.S. are free. We are owned by banks, exploited by billionaires, and controlled by two parties that sell us out at every turn.

Freedom is just the illusion they sell to hide the cage and prevent people from ever questioning the dictatorship of capital that controls, exploits, and monetizes every aspect of our lives from birth to death.

Where is the freedom when a handful of billionaires [and a trillionaire] hoard ungodly fortunes through the mass exploitation of our labor and the mass extraction of resources that belong to our communities?

Where is the freedom when our tax dollars fund endless wars, genocide, and the mass murder of children abroad all to further enrich the billionaire class?

Where is the freedom when 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to afford basic needs like housing, healthcare, and groceries?

Where is the freedom when 75% of Americans can’t afford a median-priced home, 100 million Americans live with medical debt, and 140 million Americans are poor or low-income?

There is no freedom here. We are all prisoners of a decrepit capitalist system that keeps us trapped in the rat race by demonizing the one economic system, socialism, that would put the economy in the hands of the people.

Imagine a world where workers own the means of production, resources are used for the benefit of all, and decisions are made to meet the basic needs of the people rather than the endless greed of billionaires. That is socialism, and there is nothing scary about it.

What is scary is continuing to allow a handful of billionaires and two capitalist parties to control our entire economy and make life-or-death decisions for all of humanity.

Now is not the time to celebrate a “freedom” that we never had. Now is the time to fight for our freedom from the dictatorship of capital.

250th Birthday for American Democracy. Democracy, that has nearly vanished thanks to Republicans and Trump in particular. Nothing to celebrate today.

For all sane people today, this 250th anniversary is not a holiday anymore. This is another day that reminds us of a sad fact that once we were a republic, and now have become an evil dictatorship.

America must be free for everybody. Thanks to Trump, there is no holiday vibes!

Yet it was built on slavery, the genocide of Indigenous nations, and capitalist expansion. The promises of the Declaration were never meant for everyone.
Today we carry forward the best revolutionary traditions of 1776: the right of the people to overthrow tyranny and oppression. Real independence for the working class will only come through consistent democracy.

On this #July4th, we working people are happy to take the day off, spend time with family and friends, fire up the grill, and enjoy the summer. But lFrederick Douglass asked the right question in 1852. “What to the slave is the Fourth of July?” The American Revolution was a progressive bourgeois democratic step forward. It broke colonial chains, advanced the forces of production, and helped create the modern working class - exactly as Lenin described.

This is America’s capitalist ambulance system: $2,000+ bills that bankrupt working families, delayed responses chasing profits, and millions too terrified of the cost to even call 911. #McConnell spent decades blocking #MedicareForAll while protecting insurance CEOs. Now he gets “excellent care.” The rest of us get debt or a hearse. Healthcare is a human right. Not a profit center.
