Saw some of the trashiest behavior in the history of my career last night. Had multiple adult coaches spending an entire game saying things to high school kids that would get them fired from any school I’ve ever worked at.
I spoke with a few of our guys after the game who were visibly shaken by this behavior.
My message? They won a game. But imagine what their life must be like to be that way? They are given a title of “Coach” but they are not positive mentors to young men. They may have a job as a “teacher” but they are NOT “educators”. They may get paid for their time…but they are not “professionals”. They think they are “hard” but they are truly mentally weak.
There is no reason for teenage boys to feel bad about what was said or done. Instead feel SORRY for those men who pretend to be mentors, educators and professionals but are really none of those. Feel bad for the young men that they are providing this disgusting example to as being the path to success. #BeBetterMen
