@TomandSteffani @PaymanBenz Ugh, I don't think there's any way to get rid of Crapo (I pronounce it in my head how it looks) in this Mormon-dominated state.
@corinne_depagne@DrJenGunter@NRA My husband is a hunter, and we are responsible with the weapons we own. We prefer to take wild meat rather than buy it at the store. That said, we have no need for an automatic weapon (and these are prohibited in hunting, anyway). So we do have a need for weapons in our home.
@GraciouslyTori @Luvvie Yes, I know.Last year, my mother whispered to my visiting sister, "She's a LIBERAL," when I tried to explain how the NRA had had a hostile takeover by the gun manufacturers and no longer represented Americans. I thanked her for derailing the convo and had to leave to calm down.
@Luvvie I am trying to do better in a blood red, lily white state. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to vote for Paulette Jordan for Governor. She didn't win, but I am not giving up. My grandson voted for the first time, and my son and his fiancee proudly voted blue.
If you had said a few years ago that Beto would come within a few percentage points of Ted Cruz, people would have laughed at you. To everyone who's discouraged by tonight's outcome, don't lose faith.
The future is yours if you keep up the momentum.
I think with a lot of high hopes crashing for Democratic voters in places like Florida and with Beto, there is maybe a drastic underappreciation of how Democratic control of the House will change the course of this country. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a very big deal.
Rember the worst thing you can do is hero worship - you help them by holding their feet to the fire - you do them the greatest service by demanding they do what they promised
@Luvvie Excruciatingly close losses for Stacey, Andrew and Beto show that “red states” are really purple. It also shows gerrymandering is highly effective. We learn. We try again. Because there’s no way I’m giving up on three such talents. They’ll be back and we’ll elect them next time.
@Stonekettle I always knew it was going to be a Herculean task and I was afraid we'd lose hard. With voter suppression, gerrymandering and Murdoch's constant propaganda, what we did achieve was almost miraculous. Watch the state legislature races, because that's where the real work is done.
@Stonekettle I voted, sir. In Idaho, where I am unwillingly represented by the unbelievable Heather Scott. If I can do it, any of you can. (Bright spot: my son, his fiancee and stepson voted today, the latter for the very first time.) DOOOOOO IIIIIIIIT.....
