Well I never expected Twitter to become less useful for photo sharing before Instagram but here we are. No useful audience, a boss thats just busy poopin on his own hands and a walled garden policy that makes this no longer a viable sharing medium
Flash photography, especially with macro is something I am not at all used to. I'm spending a little time now slowly teaching myself the basics.
Here's a shot of a cluster of Hardenbergia flowers shot using the Godox MF12 macro head flashes
Miserable windy outside so outdoor macro photography is off the table so I'm practising indoor flash photography that I have very little experience at. This behind the scenes shot looks like hell but the outcomes are looking promising
Taking another crack at doing some focused stack macro images. Previously I've used Photoshop with mixed results, this time I'm giving Helicon Focus a go. This is a 7 stack shot and while it didn't work out super well it seems like a decent starting point to move on from
Now that Instagram is no longer a viable photo sharing application I've recently signed up to Glass ( @tryglass ). I've written up some thoughts I've had using it for the first few days. Hopefully it might be helpful to some of you out there

Unsurprisingly its exceedingly difficult to maintain a consistent speed on a manual slider and I still have a lot to learn about setting the lighting right to get the elements to colour correct properly
Taking inspiration from folks like @nvolpewild I'm trying to branch out a little into macro videography
This quick video of a wasp obsessed with a banksia flower isn't the most exciting but it is the first one I've shot RAW, colour corrected & edited

The lovely dwarf banksia we planted a few years ago is getting ready to flower again. I love this shot I got of the yet to open flower spike which really shows off the rich golden brown colour it is.
Banksia flowers take a long time to form and eventual… https://t.co/iW3fApv3tt
Photo of a spider I took over a week ago but procrastinated a little on editing and posting. Still not 100% happy with it but if I try and do any more it’ll just look horribly over edited.
Caught this little bulbous spider just after it had finished fee… https://t.co/KD0uyC24KF
A pleasant afternoon to do some photography in the garden
Some of you might be wondering why I've been using the #atomos Ninja V+ as a view screen when the R5 has a perfectly serviceable flippy screen
A few reasons. First is one of my eyelids is starti… https://t.co/uH2Ub9aFHR
There’s a number of strawberry plants in our garden but only one puts forth red flowers, all the rest are white. For some reason I was expecting strawberries to be hard to grow but it turns out as long as you set them up well they pretty much keep going … https://t.co/xDdnYiqYQT
A few dwarf sunflowers thrown throughout the garden beds have sprouted and flowered and while the wind was extremely unhelpful in taking some outdoor shots I thought I’d try my hand at some more indoor ones.
In hindsight I should have been trying to use… https://t.co/O50joJiHSD
An attempt at macro photo of the damage done to a quince leaf by the Pear and Cherry Slug otherwise known as Sawfly larvae. I opted to go for monochrome because I was more interested in the structure than colour (which was very drab). Didn’t quite come o… https://t.co/sonQkXDrf9
Lynx spiders are fun little critters that alternate between lightning fast scuttling and hours long sitting still which makes them both frustrating and great macro subjects if you can get them in the right place.
This is probably the smallest lynx spide… https://t.co/teiPxUkuUY
Teensy tiny moth that was feeding off the Billy Buttons flowers. Possibly one of the hardest things I’ve ever tried to focus on before, it took a lot of patience and what felt like several hundred shots (just a few dozen in reality) before getting an acc… https://t.co/kWmLXK1IQ2
Spider butt, spider butt, why doesn’t Spider Man fire webs out of a spider butt?
This chonky little spider has been hanging out in this same plant for a few days now and this is the best angle I can get on them without disturbing them. I’ll keep an eye … https://t.co/1X96aoWkmB
