Also considering you've got Laz and Canzone under contract for several years I don't think it makes sense to move him to RF unless you trade Canzone and make Laz your everyday DH. Possible, but seems unlikely for this offseason

I just don't think this is true under this regime. They don't care much about defense and Julio had a better defensive 2nd half. I don't think he moves to RF til like 2029

We might be seeing the last few games of Julio’s time in CF. At least as an everyday guy. He’s been bad this year and moving him to an easier position could help the bat next year. Certainly worth a conversation

@AramLeighton8 This is beautiful Aram. You'll have more stadiums soon with the Athletics building in Las Vegas and two expansion teams only a few years out. I lost my dad in 2016 and baseball was of course a big part of our story together. Still can't get thru Field of Dreams lol 🥲

@BrashFan I think it depends what the eventual CBA agreement would say. They would have to agree on that as well as part of it (I'm very skeptical of the idea of missing an entire season. That's like the nuclear option and it really doesn't make sense for owners

@ThomasT13505085 It's not all or nothing. Yes they care about development which is why there's a pitch count at all, but they care about winning the series more in MLB. I don't have a problem with him throwing 85. I have a problem that he threw 85 when he looked like he was laboring.

It just feels like Kade to clock a few extra ticks on the fastball. Sit 95-96 and touch 97 and he's shutting teams down like it's AA again. Hopefully they can add a little muscle and heat in the offseason

@snacks4dayyyys I'd definitely change support staff there too, but without blowing it all up you have to get bounceback campaigns from Cal, Julio, and Naylor. And you need progression from Cole, Colt, and Laz. Then get scrappy, fast, tough out role players. This team needs to pitch well.

If I run the Mariners offseason, priority #1 for me is pitching. Changing some pitching strategist/coaching staff, getting some fresh ideas and building the best and deepest bullpen in MLB.

@bigtimehawksfan Maybe. But I don't believe baseball is that linear. I think many of the core guys will bounce back. Some of the young guys will get better. But pitching strategy needs an overhaul and getting scrappy, aggressive role players as well.
