For those who wants to distort history, we will not allow you to do so.
Nigerians were using SawDust to cook, Kerosene was so expensive.
Guess who benefited from the hardship? Peter Gregory Obi, who was in Abacha government
I think the Ministry of Environment should be separated from the Ministry of Water Resources, just as it was in the past.
Barrister Tokunbo Wahab has done well focusing on drainage, flood control, and water resources, but environmental management deserves its own dedicated attention.
Lagos needs a Ministry of Environment led by environmental and landscaping professionals who can set clear standards and KPIs for how the city should look or if the merger is about cost then a very prominent SA on Environment should be appointed.
Under him companies should be required to maintain their immediate surroundings, while the ministry works closely with LASPARK, Transportation, and agencies to ensure grasses are trimmed, kerbs painted, road markings maintained, public spaces kept clean, and damaged infrastructure repaired promptly.
I also believe Lagos needs a dedicated Beautification Agency or Ministry. LASPARK originally played this role under the Fashola and Ambode administrations through landscaping and beautification projects, but that momentum has declined.
A Beautification Agency should be responsible for parks, walkways, bicycle lanes, bus stops, monuments, landscaped medians, public sit-outs, and ensuring that indiscriminate street trading does not degrade the city's appearance.
LASPARK should focus on tree planting and maintaining greenery while working closely with both the Ministry of Environment and the Beautification Agency.
In my opinion, this administration has performed well in several sectors, but environmental management and beautification have not received enough attention. These are the things that make a city feel clean, welcoming, organized, and attractive.
Separating these responsibilities would allow each ministry to focus on its core mandate and help restore Lagos to the environmental standard expected of a world-class city.
This is my humble suggestion sir @jidesanwoolu@followlasg

๐ท: F1: a separate Ministry of Environment can mandate all businesses maintain a good business environment both on the mainland and island to improve city looks
F2: A Beautification Agency should be responsible for parks, walkways, bicycle lanes, bus stops, monuments, landscaped medians, public sit-outs construction, focused on improving the city's appearance.
