This was my favourite part of Jensen’s speech: that nothing along the way is wasted - every step, every setback, every detour led precisely here, and to everything still ahead. Eloquent, profound, and genuinely moving. Standing ovation at the end, and every bit deserved.
Meryl Streep: The SAVE America Act, if that passes, all the married women that have changed their names are going have to go to the registrar and prove who they are. Otherwise, when you get to the voting booth in November, you might be disqualified, because your name on your birth certificate doesn't match the name on the voting rolls. I think that women need to be heard
Eric Kripke says he “is totally bummed out” #TheBoys Season 5 was written before the presidential election.
“I’m totally bummed out to say we wrote it before the election, it sounds super naive now but i swear the plan was ‘let’s write an 1984 version of what creeping authoritarianism looks like in America’ and maybe everyone will be like ‘whew we really dodged a bullet’ but instead we got hit with the bullet..”

The Zoomer hatred of AO3 - a very popular fanfic archiving site - is pretty hilarious.
Basically, AO3 was created by Gen Xers in response to a massive adult fanfiction purge on LiveJournal. Its entire mission statement is to avoid moralistic censorship.
And many Zoomers, as the New Puritans, periodically get into these spirals of mouth-frothing moral outrage about how it allows for all sorts of immoral (fictional) content. So, when they's a donation drive, they try and browbeat people into not participating. (While still using the site, naturally, because this sort are ungrateful parasites of the highest order.)
But AO3 always surpasses their donation targets, and I suspect at least some of those donations are made out of spite towards to pearl-clutching scolds. Revealed preferences in action.
I can't say I don't understand where some of this outrage is coming from - while most of the content there is harmless, there's a small pool of truly depraved stuff. But the nonprofit who runs the site explains their reasoning as wanting to avoid a slippery slop.
And now that Zoomers (and some Millennials) want to report otherwise perfectly innocuous content for featuring characters visiting Israel or whatnot, you can see why the Organization of Transformative Works hold so firm. They'd rather some truly heinous (and generally very unpopular) works get put up than have moralizing TOS that can be abused by bad faith actors.
Naturally, they accuse the OTW of being "Zionists". For the crime of having principles that resist their totalizing moral outrage, presumably, and definitely not because one of their co-founders (Naomi Novik, a very accomplished American fantasy author who got her start writing fanfic) is half Jewish.
