This reminds me of how when Indian women were supposed to vote for the first time, most of them did not know their own names, even today my grandmother's name is hardly ever mentioned, she's just Amma, she told me her name once when I was 6.
Unpopular opinion:
I rarely meet men in real life who are as remarkable as the ones written in movies, but I constantly meet women who are far more impressive than the women movies give us.
the point that's so poignant to me is her saying that she wasn't going for sexy, she wanted to feel cool and comfortable. like everyone immediately assumed she was trying to be hot, and i think that's indicative of a much bigger issue in how people view women as performers.
Since Pope Leo XIV mentioned this in encyclical, this means if your employer is pushing you to use AI, you can cite religious conserns as a reason to not use it at work
Olivia Rodrigo speaks out on criticism for wearing babydoll dresses during Popcast interview:
“What’s really, like, disturbing is I feel like I have worn outfits that are revealing on stage. Like I’ve been on stage in like a sparkly bra, little shorts, which is my right. That’s fun. I felt cool and comfortable in that. And like that wasn’t “inappropriate” — but me, like, fully covered up in a dress that people deem to be, like, childlike was inappropriate. And I just think it just like shows how we really normalize pedophilia in our culture. And also it’s just this rhetoric that we’re fed as girls since we’re so little, which is like, ‘Don’t wear that because then a man is going to sexualize your body and it’s your fault.’ Like it’s so weird. And I didn’t think I looked sexy in that at all — I was like ‘This is so cool. I feel like I look like Kathleen Hanna or Courtney Love.’ All these people who are my heroes.”

I just want to point out....
The amount of money the United States has spent on war in the last 67 days, is roughly the same cost that Bernie Sanders proposed for universal college. So the real question is never can we afford it, it's what we choose to prioritize.
"We locked 20 people in a room for 40 hours a week to see who can generate the most shareholder value. Winner gets a $50 gift card to Starbucks and their paycheck!"
The minimum wage is meant to be the lowest wage you can live on and afford housing. So, for everyone saying "it's not meant to be that," yes, it is. That's why it's called the minimum wage.
The dead gf/wife who haunts the narrative trope is a product of misogyny writers want give male characters all the redeeming traits of a man in love without having to deal with actually writing a woman. the woman remains an idea instead of a real person w feelings & complexities
I will never understand how so many of y'all were hoodwinked into believing the government should not use the money YOU PAY IN TAXES to create a social safety net that benefits YOU.
We are no longer seen as human beings with free spirits and creative thought, who love, work and build. We are now data. Statistics. Graphs. Pie charts. Profit margins. Experiments. Reports. Markets. Files.
Please don't forget that the only difference between you and a disabled person is time. Even if the disability is temporary, it will happen in your lifetime. Disability is part of the human condition. Advocating for disability rights is advocating for your inevitable future.
