I’m 76 years old and have visited most all the west European WWII battlefields. For all of my adult life, I interviewed as many veterans as I could…. all surface ships, submariners, paratroopers, bomber crew, navy and army fighter pilots, marines, infantrymen, you name it. But I never met and visited with a tanker. Not many of them made it.
