Eight years ago today, Investigator Farrah Turner died after fighting for her life for almost three weeks.

On Oct 3, 2018, she and other Florence County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrived at a home off Vintage Drive in South Carolina to interview a suspect in a sex offense investigation. Investigator Turner was shot.

She went through nine surgeries. She died Oct 22, 2018.

Investigator Farrah Burdette Godwin Turner. End of watch, October 22, 2018.

Rest easy, Investigator Turner. Florence County hasn’t forgotten you, and neither have we.

Will you take a moment today to remember her?

Indio Police K9 Hoki has died.

The Indio Police Department in California announced he died Monday, Oct 19. The cause hasn’t been released.

Hoki graduated the academy in March 2024 and was cross trained in patrol, tracking and narcotics. He was credited with a fentanyl bust that took that poison off the streets.

He worked alongside Officer Moran, and losing a partner like that is never easy.

Rest easy, Hoki. You did good work.

Got a memory or kind word for Officer Moran today?

Todd Benzinger was my hero growing up! My dad Dan Shepherd from NR umpired him when he was 6 and said he was going to be something special! Boy was he right! Memories of watching him in spring training as a kid and catching the last out of the World Series! RIP #25 @Reds

@InsaneContext COACHES AND LEADERS WATCH AND LEARN! This is what it is to care about your players and/or people. Hard truths given with love and followed up with support but not sugar coating. Being too soft enables, being too hard pushes away…matter of fact truth from the heart guides

[Out of Context @InsaneContext]

This coach nearly broke down in tears begging his player to stay in football instead of turning to the streets… 💔🏈 ”If you quit today, in 3 years I’ll be visiting you in jail or at your grave.”

@HicksTorra21127 @iamwhatiam5150 @MattWallace888 Which part makes me an idiot?

[Nate @daywalker0211]

@HicksTorra21127 @iamwhatiam5150 @MattWallace888 Which part do you disagree with?

[Nate @daywalker0211]

@__YourNameHere_ @ReginaldRu36476 @iamwhatiam5150 @MattWallace888 Calling someone arrogant and having an opinion doesn’t mean I’m mad or triggered lol. It just means I think he’s an idiot. Assuming everyone has the same extreme emotional tendencies you do is actually more indicative of being “triggered”

THIS DOG TRACKED A MISSING 1 YEAR OLD A MILE INTO A SWAMP. TODAY HE RETIRES.

Meet K9 Zeke of the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan. He came over from Poland in 2019, paid for with a $16,000 TransCanada grant, and he’s worked narcotics and tracking ever since.

In 2022 he found that baby out in the swamp. Sheriff Brian Miller said the child came back “tired, but unharmed.” Zeke also earned a 2022 Outstanding Service Award.

He worked with Deputy Chad Thompson and later Sgt. Charlie Pippin.

His retirement party is today at 3pm at the sheriff’s office in Big Rapids.

Enjoy the couch, Zeke. You earned it.

What’s the first thing a good dog should do on day one of retirement?
