even before you see it all the way through. we're only halfway into the show and there's already a million complaints about things we haven't seen yet, you guys are complaining about future seasons that haven't been confirmed yet. let go of the nitpicks and enjoy the show
basically what I'm saying is you guys are so caught up in making things accurate that you end up becoming like the producers of the movies and missing the point altogether and in doing so, you're not allowing yourself to enjoy the adaptation you've been begging for +
while yall whine about the exposition, you guys miss the best part about an adaptation, watching how the characters react and interact to their environment and the things happening around them. +
and the on screen exposition through dialogue. it's the same amount of exposition, just in different formats to better fit the medium the story is being told in. you not understanding that is not a slight on the production. +
yes, there's a lot of exposition through dialogue and not a lot of narration from percy bc this is a *show* and not a book. back to back dialogue in a book is boring and so is constant monologuing and narration in a show so you do the literary exposition through narration +
the relationship between the gods and the demigods which the show has been doing beautifully. you guys focus on tiny unimportant nitpicks instead of acknowledging that this is an adaptation and appreciating it for what it is and how good it is. +
the faithful way the show is introducing and slowly developing the dynamic and relationship between percy and annabeth. "they don't explain the master bolt enough" bc the story isn't about the master bolt, it's about setting up the larger conflict which means emphasizing +
the hoopla about annabeth's casting was stupid bc you guys finally got the book accurate annabeth you wanted in all the ways that mattered and yall couldn't let go of the one detail that didn't. you guys complain about the lack of "seaweed brain" but don't appreciate +
you guys wanted an accurate adaptation so bad that you made some mistake in reverse, yall focused on the minute tiny details so much that you missed the point of the story and of what it means to make an adaptation. +
they changed the traitor god and ending to make the story predictable and exciting for audiences, leaving out certain scenes wouldn't have been a problem if there was a good enough reason to do so but there wasn't. +
annabeth in the movies doesn't suck bc she's not blonde, she sucks bc the movies fucked up her character and then couldn't even do the bare minimum to make her blonde. if they had stayed true to her character, her hair color wouldn't have been important. +
of the story. they took a story about trauma and how it shapes you, neglect, belonging, ableism and how nurturing differences/disabilities can help ppl reach their full potential, love in the face of apathy and anger and turned it into a cookie cutter, flat action movie.+
the movies weren't bad bc the characters didn't look the way they did or bc they took creative liberties with the plot and pacing, if those had been done well, they might have even been a benefit to the story. the movies were terrible bc they missed the entire point +
and since then, pjo fans have wanted accuracy from adaptations, rightfully so. however, I don't think you guys truly understand *why* the movies weren't accurate so you spend all your time nitpicking the show instead of appreciating how it *is* accurate. +
