I see a constant debate of whether halo should be "realistic grungy military sci fi" or "epic galaxy-spanning space opera"
However I'm afraid that the real answer is that Halo needs to go back to being influenced by 80s/90s sci fi anime
@rovabtw Never dissected a frog, but in middle school we dissected starfish and owl pellets, and in high school we dissected a dogfish (a type of small shark) which was pretty neat
@Burden_Existing So what is meant by "old gen"? The only oldgen games I've played are FU and P3rd and I'm pretty early on in both, but Rise doesn't remind me of either of them beyond setting. Key quest system ig? Kinda blanking otherwise
@QuirklessStoner A carapaceon/neopteran that goes around and dynamically collects ambient life like the various toads or even map hazards like exploding rocks that it then uses to hit you with like a pom pom crab.
@QuirklessStoner Rathian tier Bat-like flying wyvern/beast, that has the unique gimmick of needing to be hit by both flash bombs and sonic bombs in order to get fully stunned, since it'll either just echolocate or use its eyes otherwise
We had to wash a guy like that in Basic Training.
We called him caveman because he had a Cro-Magnon skull and a sloped forehead, looked like he ate rocks for snacks, a jawline so wide the Hapsburgs would be jealous, and body hair so thick you could shave it and spin it into wool. He was a fucking Ogre.
He never showered. He never washed his clothes. He refused.
One day, the entire platoon bay got back from Grenade training, and we all decided after dinner, we were gonna clean the Ogre.
We staged a faux Army Combative training on the floor by laying some of the extra mattresses on the ground, then when we wanted to grapple, everyone, all 27 of us, rushed him and held him down, stripped him like a fucking pig, then hauled him off by his limbs into the shower.
The shower was an open bay, so you know, you're showering with other men, you're gonna see meat, regardless. Anyway, all the showerheads were turned on, and we threw him in there. Someone grabbed a toilet brush, another guy grabbed laundry soap and shampoo, another guy grabbed one of the long handled scrub brushes, and we began to scrub down Caveman.
He was hollering and screaming, and our Drill Sergeant walked in while we were washing him. As he walked into the shower, he was about to berate us, when he saw that the Ogre was being scrubbed down.
"CARRY ON! I'LL BE BACK IN FIVE."
We were allowed to finish bathing him. We rinsed him off, threw his clothes into the laundry, a few of the guys gave him their spare clothing to wear, and then we let him go. We cleaned up the showers, then we put everything away and carried on like nothing happened.
After that, Caveman took showers. Nobody insulted him or berated him after that. He just stunk so bad we needed to get him clean. I can't imagine how he was back in the civilian world.
@HaloCodex Grunt workers, yes. Whoever was in charge of Infinite's general art direction, yes. Kick them in the shins if they ever start with that Fractures shit tho
@theffapanda Yeah I have no idea why Paradiso just isn't there in MM. I'm sure I probably wouldn't like the map anymore but I'd still like to play it. Besides that though, only other thing I can really think of would be no social 5v5 for some games, though that's understandable given low pop
@Aozolai Infinite failed because it launched horribly incomplete. Also I don't really care atp if a Classic Halo isn't the top dog when it comes to player count, both because it just never would be and because it doesn't affect how good it'd be to play (unless it gets super low numbers)
@AethraDK I think half the hate comes from people not even understanding what Yang looks like or suddenly forgetting JP/JW design tropes. "Oh the head's wide" yeah, so is the case with probably every other theropod in the game.
@AethraDK I'd call this a different scenario. Fluffy Pachy is very anatomically sound apart from the fuzz (which while very unlikely we can't say for certain it didn't have), whereas the new Carch imo still fails to capture the look of the animal outright, given the head is all we have
@TM9380 I think part of the problem too is that every single front view you -do- get is of someone's art, and I can understand Frontier being antsy about copying now
