Non-ccRCC is not ccRCC with a different histology. WGS on 164 pRCC and ChRCC tumors maps three genomically distinct diseases, with direct implications for how we treat them.
📉 49% of ChRCC showed HLA LOH-based immune escape vs 4% of pRCC
🎯 63% of pRCC MET-amplified, potentially eligible for targeted therapy
🔬 TERT promoter: recurrent noncoding driver in pRCC (11/103 tumors)
Why this matters for practice: 💡 Supports genomic biomarker selection over histology alone for non-ccRCC trial design.
How are you approaching WGS in metastatic non-ccRCC? 🔬

We talk about bladder cancer often as a disease common in older men. This data says we need to update that mental model.
🔺 299K+ patients. Incidence rising fastest in <50.
🔺 Women now 38.9% of young-onset cases vs 18.9% historically.
This isn't a blip. It's a trend. And if we're not screening for it, we're diagnosing it late.
Why this matters in clinic: 💡 A young woman with hematuria isn't just a UTI until proven otherwise.

#ByTheNumbers: Spring Advocacy Days
Last month, advocates from across the country came together to meet with lawmakers and push for sustained #KidneyCancer research funding. Every meeting, every conversation, and every story shared helps move progress forward. Advocacy works, and this community continues to lead the way.
#AcceleratingCures #RestoreTheResearch
This month, KidneyCAN advocates came together in Washington, D.C. to make #KidneyCancer research a priority. Patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers met with lawmakers to push for sustained federal investment in the research that drives new treatments and saves lives.
Advocacy works—and this community continues to lead the way.

Today we want to recognize Lisa Lindsey, a dedicated KidneyCAN advocate whose voice and spirit have touched so many in the kidney cancer community.
Lisa has spent years lifting others up: sending paintings to fellow patients to bring moments of light during difficult days, organizing kidney cancer awareness events, and sharing her story to help others feel less alone. A nurse by training, she has always found ways to care for others, even organizing knitting and crochet projects to support families in her hospital’s NICU.
During our Faces of Kidney Cancer campaign, Lisa chose not only to share her own story, but to highlight the nurses who cared for her, submitting photos with them to honor their role in her journey. That’s who Lisa is: someone who always made sure others were seen, appreciated, and supported.
One of the quotes she shared with us captures her outlook perfectly:
“I won’t allow cancer to win. I will be traveling too fast… enjoying each moment of the beautiful life I have been given.”
— Lisa Lindsey
We are grateful for Lisa, her advocacy, and the joy she has brought to so many people in this community.
#ReedOn3!
The McLaughlin family has launched an incredible grassroots fundraiser to support #KidneyCancer research. Inspired by Reed McLaughlin, a devoted father, husband, coach, and loyal supporter of everyone around him, the Reed on 3 campaign is bringing people together to raise awareness and funds for kidney cancer.
Their goal is $50,000, and they’re already more than $22,000 of the way there!

Today, on #InternationalWomensDay, we recognize the women affected by #KidneyCancer, as patients, caregivers, researchers, and advocates.
While kidney cancer is more common in men, thousands of women are diagnosed each year, and outcomes can vary based on stage, access to care, and participation in clinical research. Women remain underrepresented in some areas of research, making awareness and inclusion especially important.
