Finding these on my desk this morning was such a lovely way to start the final week of the school year. But it is me who needs to say thank you. Our Y5/6 Young Entrepreneurs raised well over $2000 for our chosen charity, Bring Me A Book HK, selling 2ndhand books. Amazing!🙏❤️📚

With the hotter weather we have increased numbers of students visiting the library at break times. Besides reading, students are either playing chess or completing jigsaw puzzles. Both are fantastic for building focus, problem solving and reasoning. 🌞♟️🧩

To help Y4-6 students better understand fiction genres and their own reading preferences, students worked in small groups to complete tarsias (complex jigsaw puzzles), matching keywords and descriptions to genre labels. Which fiction genres do you enjoy reading the most?📚

At DBIS, the Learner Profile is a set of personal learner attributes and skills. Students across the school have modelled LP 'Responsible Citizens' admirably, using the Library silently and calmly in response to Secondary students preparing for and sitting exams.

Former principal Anne-Marie Naughton gifted the library a copy of the gorgeous Flipper and Finnegan by @sophiec and @AnilTortop. Ms Naughton donated many books to the DBIS Library such was her belief in the power of reading. Books really are gifts that keep on giving. ❤️📚🐧

Today we spied these Y8 students in the library busy designing and creating a model wind turbine as part of their Discovery sustainability project. There was plenty of research, thinking, collaboration and communication going on and we can't wait to see the finished product!

Book Week was a celebration of inclusive stories and what better way to launch the week than with @susannalynam reading her book, #TheTurtleThatChurtled. Primary students then used the book as inspiration for the Big Award for Writing, creating their own versions of the story.
