@kenobi_domi@lite_thespark This was like when I found out that the daughter that Ethan Hawke talked about giving The Beatles Mixtape from Boyhood to was literally Maya Hawke.
@barbarabbabarb@johnsemley3000 I don't think Larry leaving made the show worse, I think Larry left because he knew there were only so many things left to do and he wasn't as interested. He did still write the finale afterall.
@barbarabbabarb@johnsemley3000 Larry is great but it's almost like people don't know his sense of humor because the cartoon stuff was already in full force by his last couple seasons, his total caricature role of Steinbrenner, and then even Curb at points is total absurdity.
@edwardbrgr A small thing that I love about TSN is that it was a perfect early 00s movie that came out just as it was wrapping. I don't know who it was that was so in tune into making this kind of heavy drama about Millennials that was so steeped in their culture but its awesome
@wrighthouseprod I think there's a disconnect because some would consider horror to only exist when the setting is scary, and the setting of Jaws is not scary. I think it definitely is a horror film but it's not scary in the way that Alien is even though they have a lot in common. Or any slasher.
@arafat_atreides I do love Nolan, not sure where I'd rank him, but I do find him to be one of the least understood filmmakers working right now. I think a lot of his fans got the pretentious label thrown at them, they offloaded it onto him, and it stuck. And it doesn't really make sense.
@An_Actual_mole@arafat_atreides To be honest, I think it's moreso a flaw of execution in that it isn't "a money shot" and the film really only starts teasing it as such within a couple of scenes of it happening. It should have just been cut entirely because it, like seeing the dropping of it, doesn't matter.
@lennonali03@reddestroyer05 This is something a lot of modern discourse seems to not get. It's acceptable and maybe even encouraged that Slinky deserves to be a tertiary character. Thats where he thrives. The problem is with fandoms that fixate over everyone getting their moment to shine and its not the way
@BonesAndEllie I'm just extremely curious how they would implement it. An episode by episode based tracker? Per show as a whole? The one I use is pretty good but not without flaw and I wonder if they'd just steal it entirely or improve on it in any way.
@quopelw@LeCinephiles Do you genuinely see any correlation between quality and money here? Fantastic 4 is another example. Another one with great reception and a muted result.
@godsandmortaIs@DrFateDc I think I should have specified "no, I don't think you think too highly of yourself". My goal was not to be insulting. Just to have a conversation.
@godsandmortaIs@DrFateDc If you sincerely believe that your online critiques impact the studio, then we just fundamentally disagree on this and there isn't much more to say. Loving the editorial is entirely separate imo. I see no issue with that.
@wpppr_@dennisbhooper Only one of them is actually about "mafia" and it's more interesting because of it. However, classical dramatic structure applied as commentary on America through the Italian immigrant to mob boss arc is also unmatchable. So who knows?
@godsandmortaIs@DrFateDc You're allowed to do whatever you want. As I said. I support that completely. I just don't believe it has impact on what gets made and how. And I think it'd be more interesting to just have sincere beliefs and discussions rather than pretend that we're in dialogue with studios.
@godsandmortaIs@DrFateDc I think we should all be able to just have conversations without needing moral or practical justifications as for why we have a duty to be critical or loyal or consume, not consume, etc.
@godsandmortaIs@DrFateDc "ppl should keep pointing out what didn't work so studios don't keep making the same mistakes."
You have every right to talk about whatever you want but I don't think this mentality is at all realistic, nor is it helpful (at best it does nothing).
