It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government canāt selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But thatās exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, itās important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administrationās fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone ā all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And itās not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies ā from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omarās life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and sheās been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omarās political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, thereās no reason to believe it will stop with her ā or that future presidents, in either party, wonāt do the same.
BREAKING NEWS: Billionaire Sir Richard Branson launches a SCATHING attack on Trump and his disgusting coziness with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that gets under Trumpās skin...
"I never thought Iād have to say this in my lifetime, but itās 2026, and unfortunately, nothing is the way it used to be," wrote Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, on LinkedIn. "The Trump administration has become an enabler of autocrats and dictators, placing their personal whims ahead of the interests of the American people and the free world. What is it about Putin that makes President Trump fawn over him?"
"How can Americaās allies ever trust this administration again, when it is now turning against them in a time of war and suffering?" he asked.
Trump has repeatedly betrayed our Ukrainian allies in recent days. First, he announced a shocking deal with Putin to allow millions of barrels of diesel onto global marketsāa move that will inject cash directly into the Russian war machine. Then, he launched a concerted smear campaign against President Zelenskyy, claiming that Putin is "easier to deal with."
The betrayals escalated when Washington failed to provide its customary early warning to Kyiv regarding an imminent Russian ballistic missile attack. Now, it appears the White House has ordered a temporary suspension of Starshieldāa military version of Elon Muskās Starlink, upon which the Ukrainian armed forces rely.
"The throttling of Starlink/Starshield and the inexplicable failure to provide advance warning of Russian missile launches have already led to the needless deaths of Ukrainian civilians," Branson wrote. "How much worse can it get?" "If one thing is clear, itās that European leaders must move past the initial shock of Trumpās recent actions and step up. This is as much about European freedom as it is about Ukraineās sovereignty. Both are worth fighting for," he continued. "Every option should now be on the tableāfrom transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, to delivering advanced weapons systems like the German Taurus."
"Why, oh why, is this happening? We cannot allow the free world to be dismantled before our very eyes," Branson concluded.
We couldnāt agree more. Trump is an enemy of Ukraine, an enemy of democracy, and an enemy of the American people. When the Democrats regain power, we will have a major task ahead of us. Every trace of this monstrous manās legacy must be erased.
Please ā¤ļø and share if you think Trump is Putinās puppet!

Thank you @BethDobbin for using your voice to ignite awareness and highlight the urgent need to bring treatments that work to people living with ME/CFS and related disorders.
22 hours in bed every day. I need everyone to think about that. It's so far beyond fatigue - it's deep, debilitating, brutal illness. Imagine having the worst illness and it never leaving.
And then, turning to the world for support and finding very little. We can't keep going like this.
We, as a community, are committed to accelerating a research system that drives real progress for these complex, chronic illnesses. We need every loud and supportive voice that knows someone who is not well or has compassion for their suffering, to pay attention and join in our fight.
Thank you Beth for sharing your story and amplifying the plight of others fighting with you.

š® Good God. Even The Telegraph is printing the economic case for undoing Brexit.
Goldman Sachs says rejoining the Single Market could make the UK economy up to £150bn larger.
For years we were told Brexit would unlock growth.
Now the growth opportunity being discussed is removing the barriers Brexit created.
Fibrin Amyloids - From "nice spaghetti" to a "disgusting mess | Prof. Dougals Kell @dbkell . https://t.co/zhLatcvPvm
How thrombin turns fibrinogen into fibrin, how iron or tiny amounts of LPS produce a different, amyloid form, and how thioflavin T makes cross-β amyloid fluoresce green.
Prof. Kell: tissues short of oxygen could explain fatigue and brain fog; misfolded proteins seen as "not self" could explain autoantibodies ("not entirely tested"); and POTS may be the heart beating faster to compensate for poor flow. @dbkell
If Brexiteers had just been honest & said "if we leave, it will be more costly & harder to trade with the EU, our economy will shrink & tax revenue will fall costing you more in tax", then maybe we wouldnt be complaining as much.
But they promised sunlit uplands.
They lied.
1/ Could Long COVID, ME/CFS, post-vaccination syndrome and even stroke share one measurable mechanism? Prof. Douglas Kell and Prof. Resia Pretorius argue they do: amyloid fibrin microclots.
