@DrShayPhD In John's Gospel about the, but it doesn't say that the apostles forgive sins by their own authority. It is through the Holy Spirit. Mark and John don't contradict each other, they both point to God as the source of forgiveness.
@DrShayPhD I can't and you know that. But that isn't confirmation of your argument. There are many things we both believe to be true that aren't written in the Bible, the Trinity being one, and many wonders carried out that weren't written. 'sins forgiven, sins retained' was written (cont)
@DrShayPhD@HughTauerner You saying this is false does not make it so. He explained *exactly* how men have been given the authority to forgive sins, by God the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ. The same authority given to the disciples to heal the sick and cast out demons when sent out 2-by-2.
@DrShayPhD@Sachinettiyil And I thanked you for that reply. I'm not trying to trap you, I'm genuinely interested in your opinion because I respect you. Your posts make me think outside what I believe to be true, but they always leave me with questions.
@IsTruth86582@DrShayPhD@Sachinettiyil Marian apparitions over the last 500 years have warned us of the rise of the anti-Christ within the church, so no surprise here. That's why we need to pray for the Pope and all the clergy. Do you think God gave us His Word and then abandoned us? No, he sent His Mother to warn us.
@DrShayPhD@Sachinettiyil Thank you for this. Jesus also commanded that people should be baptised in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. He also commanded us to receive Him in the Eucharist. These are sacraments not found outside the church. Is this not important?
@DrShayPhD@Sachinettiyil I asked an honest question as I desire truth. I'm here to learn, not to throw Bible verses back and forth (I had to Google Mt 16).
Plus I couldn't possibly provide a rebuttal as my knowledge of scripture isn't strong.
What is the true church?
@beetle67a@LucidDr63600510@EcciusMaximus What is the *precise* reason you were looking for? I also thought it was Peter's revelation that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living.
@DrShayPhD@Sachinettiyil So what is the true church that Jesus talks about in Matthew 16? And at what point has the Catholic church diverged from it?
I have been born and raised Catholic and your constant attacks sting, but your arguments and interpretation of scripture are hard to ignore.
@DrShayPhD@ThWawerka Do you not think God would provide the perfect Mother for His Son? Would that not include being sinless? Mary is sinless by the grace of God, not by herself. Even if not written in scripture, surely this is the only conclusion?
On June 26-27, Pope Leo XIV will gather with all the cardinals of the Church in an extraordinary consistory. What if those days found millions of faithful Catholics on their knees before the Blessed Sacrament, praying that Christ’s voice will resound in the hearts of these men? Read more here:
