Very enjoyable trip up the River Dart today with @clennonvalley in the hope of viewing Osprey fishing on a rising tide before embarking on migration. We found two juvenile birds, one of which gave tremendous views. #osprey#riverdart#migration#devon
One this years young already moving around - BT was ringed on 24th May near Slapton and has been photographed 18km away at Soar. @StephMurphy @_RaptorLab @DevonBirds
Good News! It’s looking like another 2 #WhiteTailedEagles released by the project are forming a pair. Male G471 & female G405, released in 2020, have been spending a lot of time together in West Sussex. If this continues they will be the 2nd pair to form so far. @RoyDennisWF
We’ve been out this week surveying some woodlands in east Devon, pleased to find an occupied Goshawk nest. You can just make out the down from the female around the edge of the nest. Females moult whilst incubating, so this is a very positive indicator. @_BTO @_RaptorLab
Another ringing recovery - Blue MY - ringed near Newton Abbot in 2020 and found freshly dead in Pinhoe, Exeter on 22/2 hit by a car. Another good data point but in sad circumstances. @eddrewitt @_LJSutton #peregrine
Photograph showing it after ringing on the breeding ledge.
The red kite became extinct as a breeding species in England and Wales at the start of the 19th century, after an extended period of persecution. But today, thanks to conservation efforts, there are more than 10,000 red kites across Britain!

Went back to a coastal site to collect the trail cam. Young fledged a week ago but back on the ledge chilling when I popped my head over. Sadly the camera has gone 🤷🏻♂️ thinking the birds have dislodged it and pulled it over the edge? #lovinglife
