CCA Executive Director @DBruce95 says @attorneygeneral Merrick Garland has a responsibility to explain the full rationale behind the Trump indictment to the American people, or else it will appear to be a transparently political prosecution designed to take down a leading presidential candidate.
Washington, D.C./May 31, 2023 – Black leaders criticized the executives in charge of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) for appropriating tens of millions of donor dollars for their own personal benefit while denying resources to causes that align with the organization’s stated mission.
Recent news reports have revealed that BLMGNF has only contributed $30 million to charitable organizations out of the $90 million they raised. Meanwhile, BLMGNF spent $12 million on luxury properties and over $22 million on miscellaneous expenses including six-figure payments to companies owned by relatives of BLMGNF executives.
“BLMGNF’s leadership continues to spend millions of dollars to finance their lavish lifestyles, while doing the bare minimum for the people they’re supposed to be helping,” said DaQuawn Bruce, executive director of Concerned Communities for America (CCA). “They pillaged a movement for personal profit, exploited grieving families, and poisoned the national conversation about policing and public safety.”
CCA also criticized BLMGNF for using its national platform to promote anti-police rhetoric that gave rise to the “Defund the Police” movement.
“As a direct result of their actions, we’ve seen a massive wave of violent crime in our cities, creating countless unnecessary victims and holding us back from making progress toward building safe, prosperous communities for our families,” Bruce said.
