When we aren’t taught to understand, regulate, & process our emotions:
We eat them away, we drink them away, we sleep them away, we shop them away...
Unresolved wounds from our childhood become our present day
relational difficulties.
When we are reactive in relationship, usually it’s our X-year old child who is triggered.
You can’t control how other people receive your energy. Anything you do or say gets filtered through the lens of whatever they are going through at the moment, which is not about you. Just keep doing your thing with as much integrity and love as possible." ~Nanea Hoffman⠀
"You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back & observing things with logic... Breathe & allow things to pass." Unknown

Punishment/violence teaches fear & distrust. It’s a short-term fix w/ long-term consequences.
True discipline is modeled by adults having the SELF-discipline to practice alternatives that have long-term benefits.
I knew I was healing when:
I started responding rather than reacting.
I enjoyed alone time.
I saw my parents as people with their own unresolved trauma.
I set boundaries when people didn’t respect them, I knew they were clearing space for those who did...
