With privilege, we met with His Beatitude Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa to discuss #legal_aid for vulnerable people in front of the #EcclesiasticCourt of Latin Patriarchate of #Jerusalem. This meeting is a milestone in our efforts to promote #accesstoJustice for Palestinians.
3/3 Despite the gains secured, more efforts are needed to tackle challenges around judicial credibility, accountability and access to justice, including for women survivors of violence. This includes the adoption of the Family Protection Bill #Palestine#GBV
2/3 @SawasyaPal has also strengthened specialised service provision for women survivors of violence – One Stop Centers are now operating in #Hebron & #Nablus – digitalised civil records, and promoted mediation solutions in child justice #SDG5#eJustice
3/4 More than 500 justice actors in training on mainstreaming integrity, transparency, and accountability for enhanced access to justice were supported within Sawasyas work on institutional development,
2/4 Inclusive service provision was possible due to e-services for instance, around 200,000 court documents were processed digitally, in addition institutionalizing IT knowledge and environment to enhancing the e-justice portal and ongoing merging of Mizan platforms.
1/4 In his speech during the Programme Board meeting today, Joint Programme Manager, D. Christopher Decker, highlighted the achievements of the Programme in 2022:
600,000 beneficiaries profited from legal aid services in its different forms across the WB & Gaza.
1/3 When @UNinPalestine agencies team up, progress on the #2030Agenda is expedited. The @SawasyaPal programme enabled access to legal aid for >15K vulnerable Palestinians in 2022, advancing the effectiveness, accountability & inclusiveness of Rule of Law in #Palestine#SDG16
