UPDATE: Thankfully, Regal Gallery Place 14 is now posting OC times. Not sure if they would have done this if they didn't get an outside prompt. Individuals should not have to prompt institutions to have accessibility ready for them.
In DC, @RegalMovies Gallery Place 14 is currently not listing any open caption times for this week. OC options not being part of a movie theater's routine scheduling is a huge reason we need a law passed by @councilofdc -- to ensure that accessibility on a consistent basis. #deaf
Shout-out to @charlesallen and his team @CMCharlesAllen for getting the open captioned movie bill re-introduced in DC! And thanks to all the deaf and hard of hearing individuals and organizations and allies for helping to bring this closer to reality.
The theatrical release of best picture winner “CODA” was applauded for its use of on-screen captions. Deaf viewers want more movie distributors and theaters to follow suit. https://t.co/HMoqdKwcEw
Excited to share that DC Council has re-introduced the DC open captioned movie bill, with seven co-introducers! It's time to make open captioned movies a staple of living in (or near) Washington, DC! #deaf https://t.co/yGufZr1WM9
@CEOAdam@warnerbros Can you please look in the St. Louis area and get AMC Theatres venues there to show Open Captions, especially for #TheBatman? There is a big deaf and hard of hearing community in that area that isn't getting OC options.
@fingcrazymommy@AMCTheatres@TheBatman Let @AMCHelps know. It looks like there is false advertising of Open Captions at AMC Chesterfield 14 when there are no OC screenings at all. @CEOAdam should help make sure there is OC for the St. Louis deaf community at AMC West Olive or AMC Creve Coeur. https://t.co/sfFT9maszL
What a company volunteers to give, they can simply take away. Accessibility law can ensure consistency and a clear pattern of accessible options. AMC has not demonstrated this ability on its own. @AMCHelps@CEOAdam
Why do we need laws to ensure open caption movies? @AMCTheatres in the DC area has reduced deaf access -- from 100 OC times (out of thousands of non-OC times) last week to only 21 this week. All but one AMC theater have OC for just one title (and it's not even Spider-Man).
@AMCHelps Hello, we are listing Open Caption movie times for the upcoming week but do not see #SpiderManNoWayHome OC at any AMC venues on Sat or Sun. It's still the #1 movie, but deaf moviegoers don't have OC access to this. Can you please investigate? @AMCTheatres@CEOAdam
While it is nice that @AMCTheatres is providing Open Caption times, their voluntary approach shows the need for a law.
Not a single AMC theater in the DC area is showing deaf-featuring #Eternals with OC this coming week of 11/19-11/25, despite numerous non-OC times. @AMCHelps
Checking the DC area's @AMCTheatres locations' times this Halloween weekend, there is only one #HalloweenKills Open Caption screening anywhere, and it's on a Wednesday afternoon (Nov 3rd). There needs to be a fairer mix of OC options for all locations and titles.
Very glad that @AMCTheatres is showing more movies with Open Captions for deaf moviegoers and others who like or benefit from captions! We're starting to compile our Wednesday email of OC listings for theaters in the Washington, DC area.
Very excited about this! We've listed Open Caption showtimes in the Washington, DC area for this coming week and for "Eternals" on Nov 5th. Check it out: https://t.co/9hDKCJWQEq
I am proud to announce that @AMCTheatres permanently will offer some Open Caption showtimes each week. Well marked on our web site and mobile app. A real advance for those with hearing difficulties or where English is a second language. And right in time for Eternals from @Disney

Great news!
"'CODA,' a coming-of-age story about the only hearing member of a deaf family, will change that when it is screened with open captions that need no special equipment in all U.S. and U.K. movie theaters and showtimes, starting Friday." https://t.co/lmbnYaNwwn
@sianheder Do you know if open captions are automatically part of the "CODA" theatrical screenings? It would be a huge disappointment if OC is not available by default for deaf and hard of hearing moviegoers everywhere, especially for this film that features Deaf actors.
We have open captioned movies in the Washington, DC area for deaf and hard of hearing moviegoers and others who like or benefit from captions! Check out the OC screenings for the upcoming weekend: https://t.co/Tbg5iJ78Ij
